Bottled. Full 33cl sample. The aroma has roast, dried dark fruitiness, bourbon. Dark brown/black coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is moderate bitter, has some sweetness and some funky tones. Unsure if they were intended but they did suit the beer well. There is roast, bourbon, dried fruits mainly. Enjoyable.

Rich taste of dark fruits and vanilla. Sweet beer, more like a barley wine, than an imperial stout. Aftertaste of crispy raisin. Great.

330 mml bottle tasted at home on 12/03/2014. First of all, when I bought this beer I expected a Imperial Stout but is more Barley Wine than Imperial Stout. The colour is a dark between brown and black. The taste is a little alcoholic with notes of wood, grapes, some berries and licorice. There is no head at all. The finish is bitter. Come on De Molen you can do it better. Awful beer. Next one please!

Bottle at home. Brown, flat pour. Does not look like a stout at all. Aroma of dark dried berries, chalk, booze. Taste is boozy coconut, wet wood. Little to no carbonation. Pretty sweet. Decent beer, but no stout.

> A thin, sweet American Strong Ale

[ Bottle ][ Etre Gourmet ][ 33cl ][ Pizza Boy Snifter ][ $20 ][ 2/23/14 ]
>> Pours a clear, deep ruby; not really an RIS pour. Was skeptical when I held this bottle up to the light and light easily passed through it compared to H&V and H&A variants that are inky black. Pours with little carbonation, just bubbles. Nose is maple, light bourbon, more American Strong Ale with maple, black soy, brown sugar. Taste is quite sweet, there is some FW anniversary style maple chocolate, rich bourbon. Definitely a sipping dessert beer. Palate feels a tad thin with no carbonation, bitterness, or roast. So can’t really be called RIS. Would move to ASA.

<!> not Imperial Stout, no roast, no hops, no carbonation, too sweet

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Dark brown to black colour, thin light-beige head. Aroma of oak, wood, light vinous, sweet malts, alcohol, bourbon, spices. Flavour is malty, light vinous and woody, bourbon, sweet malts, watery milk chocolate, spices like clove and a hint of pepper, dark fruits, alcohol, sweet malty finish with some bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice BBA BSA IMHO. Not worth the hefty price tag though (€5.90)

33cl bottle (bottled on Jan. 28th 2013) pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up full bourbon and booze and then oak mixed with malt sweetened dark roasted malts and a sliver of molasses. The taste begins with smooth bourbon booze, some molasses covered oak and mild vanilla. It then picks up sweet dark roasted malts that have brief moments of burnt maltiness. Pretty nice but on the thin side and after only 1 year this seems to be heading south.

StoutHead (483) - DENMARK - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours a deep red color with a small beige head. Doesn’t really look like an Imperial Stout. Aroma has very clear notes of bourbon and fruit. Taste and aftertaste is of berries, sour fruits, roasted malt, molasses, a hint of licorice and very clear vineous bourbon notes. Very smooth with a bitter and metallic aftertaste. Full-ish body. Sounded good. Wasn’t as good. A miss. Too bad.

ShivanDragon (1253) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - DEC 28, 2013
Donkerrood, helder met minimale kraag. Aroma is moutig( gebrande en geroosterde), zoet, vanille, hout en bourbon. Smaken zijn redelijk zoet, redelijk bitter, zeer sterke stout, gebrande en geroosterde mouten, licht fruitig, redelijk kruidig( iets van pepertje ), vanille, chocolade. Volle body, laag co2, afdronk wat kruidig. Lekker bier !
