StoutHead (804) - DENMARK - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours a deep red color with a small beige head. Doesn’t really look like an Imperial Stout. Aroma has very clear notes of bourbon and fruit. Taste and aftertaste is of berries, sour fruits, roasted malt, molasses, a hint of licorice and very clear vineous bourbon notes. Very smooth with a bitter and metallic aftertaste. Full-ish body. Sounded good. Wasn’t as good. A miss. Too bad.

Donkerrood, helder met minimale kraag. Aroma is moutig( gebrande en geroosterde), zoet, vanille, hout en bourbon. Smaken zijn redelijk zoet, redelijk bitter, zeer sterke stout, gebrande en geroosterde mouten, licht fruitig, redelijk kruidig( iets van pepertje ), vanille, chocolade. Volle body, laag co2, afdronk wat kruidig. Lekker bier !

Bottle kindly shared by Holmen2. Clear mahogany colored body with a loght brown rim. Fruity funky bourbon nose. Vanilla and heavy sweet bourbon flavors. Full bodied. Alco warm. Pretty good. I’d think more in the line of barley wine or old ale than imperial stout as it’s styled at the rating moment on ratebeer.

Sigmund (5555) - Tau, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Shared 330 ml bottle, at local tasting. ABV is 10.6%, EBU 46. Dark brown to ruby colour, minimal head. Aroma of red wine, berries, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Minimal carbonation. Very sweet flavour, vinous notes, raisins, molasses and bourbon / oak. This is a barleywine, not an imperial stout.

gunnar (6108) - Sandnes, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours deep ruby with a small tanned head. Aroma is light funky, light honeyish sweetness. Taste is light sweet, wood and barrel, vanilla and cocoa, lots of bourbon, until the lingering sweet bourbon end.

Dark brown. No head. A bit of lambic in aroma. Tropical fruits, berries and canned pineapple in taste. Not much malt in taste. Long and warming aftertaste. More an old ale or barley wine than an imperial stout.

You get a delicious honey sweetness straight off the bat with this one. Quite light for an Imperial Stout you expect it to be meatier, you also get a hint of woody pine nose

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours dark brown with little to no head. Aromas are roasted sugars, touch funky. Taste is tart bitter. Finishes clean. Good.
