UPDATED: JAN 31, 2011 666th rating had to be a little more or less special brew. This one I have in my house since the BBF, so time to open it. Pours out pitch black at the glass, with a small light brown head. Should be a bit bigger, but hey… The smell is great. Roasted malts, sweet coffee, something liquorish, earthy/ashy. The taste is roasted coffee, caramel, chocolate, slightly some whiskey gets his way through, mostly at the end.

Botlle. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, earthy and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet peat & malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. . This is a very good beer.

At Borefts BF 2010. Black, thick tan head. Huge choc aroma. Strong in the mouth in terms of ABV. Great barrel too, bit of whisky. Hot, but good. Tasty big impy stout.

(Rating #3372)

Draught at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm. Exceptionally black, rich firm head. Generous coffee aroma. Mid dry, dense and grainy with raw licorice, tobacco and lots of coffee. Remarkably roasty, but feels leser than it’s 14%. Salty, somewhat resiny bitterness. A bit edgy.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Pours a pitch black beer with a chocolate beer. The aroma is licorice, coffee, malt, roasted and chocolate. The flavor follows the nose closely. The palate is smooth, rounded, sweetness and roasted. Overall a fantastic beer with a good balance and good complexity. [Rating #1600]
