Pours black with a medium tan head that drops quickly. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, molasses, a hint of coffee. Taste opens somewhat sweet before turning into coffee and cocoa bitterness. There’s port wood and brown sugar there as well. Finish is quite boozy, with low carbonation. Body is thick, creamy and sweet. A nice imperial stout, slightly too sweet and boozy for my liking.

Thanks to Sean for hooking me up with this fantastic beer. The appearance is near black with a thin, oily beige collar. The aroma brings delectable cognac, barrels, roast, oh wow - so good. The taste is silly. Smooth and rich, just teeming with flavor. Roasty...did I mention silky smooth. If i could give the mouth feel extra credit, I would. Yeah man, I am really digging this. Lots of cognac in both the nose and flavor, which is fantastic. Warming finish with alcoholic presence noticeably absent, which is a bit surprising, given the 13% abv. A stunning beer. I am huge fan of both of the beers that went into this blend. World class.

Thanks Huhzubendah! Pours a super dark brown color, with a thin cocoa head. Impossible to see through. The nose is liquor, dark fruit and alcohol, toffee. The taste is amazing. Cognac, dark fruit, alcohol in the taste. Really complex, and unbelievable this beer is 13%. It goes down so smoothly and easily. Dangerously good. Overall, a fantastic brew that I feel honored to try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPad

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Pitch black body. Thin khaki skim. Nose is roast, cognac, coffee, anise, yeast spice and chocolate. Flavor is similar as coffee, cognac, and chocolate are complemented by a little Belgian yeast notes and a slight boozy quality. Medium bodied. Lingering finish.

Nip bottle thanks to Travlr. Shared with GT2 and JulienHuxley. Pours pitch black with a small, reddish head. Aroma is heavy sugar, dark chocolate, very rich. A little boozy. Taste is more dark chocolate fudge, sweet and boozy, dense dessert beer. Palate is a little hot and sweet for me but the sample was quite small. Overall very good.

Bottle. Big thanks to travlr! Reddish brown pour tan head. Aroma of vanilla tons of chocolate, caramel, lots of sweets. Taste is sweet, nice roast, vanilla, very nice, barrel finish. Syrupy palate but very nice, good warmth.

180mL thanks to Travlr. Pours clear mahogany to near black. Reddish mocha foam. Nose is lemon, soy, graham cracker, spicy umami, seaweed, smoke. Taste is a bit tart, powdery, sweeter with De Molen yeast sediment and mega sugar. Not a Ryan Artuso style beer. Little hoppy balance. Huge maple and brown sugar. A sweet dessert stout. Nice to have in a small sample. 4oz is more than plenty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar. Black appearance with a very small dark brown appearance. Quite roasty, woody, rich dark chocolate, mild coffee aroma. Fairly creamy mouth feel. Dark chocolate, a touch nutty, mild dark fruity, coffee, rich roasty flavor. Pretty tasty but not as complex as I hoped.

Picked this up from Mikkeller bar and a few other places actually. dark, rich, smooth, big lacing. Lots kicking around in here but it remains an approachable beverage. the nipper bottle still takes some time to work thru but nice to savor.
