3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Muddy brown, creamy beige head. Nose of roasted malt, bit of ash and cake. Flavor is a bit green, nutty, plant-like, more malt and cake, some bitterness through the finish, bit of heat. Way better than the straight bordeaux, barrel actually goes with the beer. Still not a huge fan though.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
180mL courtesy of Travlr. Pours a deep brune to noire with a medium, healthy, tan head. Ruby highlights in the snifter. Aroma of roasted nuts, chestnuts, smoke, vinous richness, burnt cherries, sweet dark fruits. Neither barrel is picked up here necessarily, but what emerges from both is quite complex and hard to pinpoint. Taste is massively rich, nutty, creamy, sweet, vanilla and gelato richness abounding. Thick and viscous on the palate. Probably the best beer of the night apart from the vintage Goose Island Matildas with Brett!

Bottled 25cl (bottle #835/2040 16122009/13052010)
Thanks for this one to bierkoning, Edo! Dark opaque brown color, small brown head. Strong bourbon aroma with chocolate, dark malts and alcohol. Full bodied. Lots of alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, toffee, dark roasted malts. Quite active carbonation. Finish has some metallic notes with earthy barrel flavors. Typical De Molen imperial stout. This one is pleasant and tasty, although has still excessive alcohol.
