Pitch black. Head is good and hold nice when poured from a bit higher. Good roasted, coffee, chocolate, hint of vanilla, good moderated liqourish. Something less pleasant gets trough a little at the smell, but overall, this one is good for sure.

Super Imperial-Stout. Extraklasse!Test vom 19.5.2010, Gebinde: Fass

Green waxed 18 cL bottle, brought home from de Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Black with ruby-brown edges. A finger of creamy choco head. Smell licorice, hard roasted sweet dark malts and strong coffee ground. Also some barrel notes and a nice whiff of vanilla. Full malt body. Creamy in the mouth, with soft prickling carbonation. Sweet, roasty and warm. Coffe, licorice and wood. Quite vinous. Substantial bitterness. Finishes smooth, warm and balanced. Great drinkability for such a big beer.

Bottle. A black one, topped by a medium sized, creamy, tan head. Red wine, roasted malts, some alcohol and oak and a touch of coffee on the nose. The flavor has a good bitterness to support the roasted malts and coffee, as well as the oak and vinous feeling. Full-bodied and slightly warming on the palate. A rather lovely one, making me forget to take notes when drinking it. 110107

250mL green wax from Belgobaren in Stockholm, Sweden. Courtesy of Jack himself! The pour is a deep, tawny maroon with a scant, creamy, tan head. Little spotty lace. Aroma is wet wood, sharp coffee and chocolate, peat, boozy black cherries, meat, fat. Taste is buttery/ganache, heavy, rich, tart cherries, but dry and bitter. Sort of like liquid smoked chocolate. Excellent, soft, creamy palate. Sweet up front and bitter, tart in the back. Really yummy. Would pair well with hanger steak.

Bottle, thanks to Mes. Black as the abyss with a small brown head. Nose and taste had abundant dark chocolate and roasted malt with some alcohol and barrel notes. Very smooth, fullish and creamy mouthfeel. Some bitternes protruded towards the finish. Barely noticable ABV overall. A perfect late night sipper. Ace!

180 ml bottle. Black body with a thin brown head. Aroma of sweet, roasted malt, molasses, coffee and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, bitter and warming alcohol. Full bodied. The alcohol it selves is more obvious than the actual whisky flavor. Damn nice anyway.

Bottle: Thanks to Noize. Bottle # 165/1440: Small brown foamy head on top of a black beer. Smell coffee beans, cacao, roasted/burnt malts, hints of chocolate and alcohol. Taste coffee, coffee beans, roasted malts, bitter, dark chocolate, hint of warmth (alcohol), hint of tar and a slight hint of something earthy. Bitter, coffee and grass in the aftertaste. Low carbo, medium to full body and soft silky mouthfeel.
