In short: A Barrel Aged Imperial that doesn’t overdo the barrel thing. Good
How: Bottle, tiny 180ml, consumed when 1 year 4 months after bottling date
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose has light notes of barrels, medium roast, lots of sweet dark malts. Taste is blackened malts, thick maple syrup, some chocolate, some prunes, Nice well-integrated wood barrels. I don’t think it was possible to tell the barrels used were whiskey. It was obvious there was wood barrels involved, but there wasn’t much of a whisky flavor, in fact the barrel flavor was smooth enough that I don’t think I could have believed it was any type of barrel (Rum, Bourbon, maybe even Brandy). Alcohol is a bit apparent but not bothersome. It’s hard to say if this 12.5% beer is relatively easy to drink because the bottle is empty after just a few sips. Only sold in 180ml bottles, if it was a chocolate bar they would call it "fun size", a totally stupid name, a "fun size" chocolate bar should be the size of a toaster-oven.

Bottle, thanks to Jeffo. Tastes 09/09/2011. Pours black, creamy tan head, low retention but nice lacing. Round nose, smooth chocolate with roast coffee, licorice, ending with subtle oaky vanilla. Rich flavor of chocolate liqueur, bitter coffee roast, some licorice, oak and booze on the breath. Medium thin mouth feel, but smooth and creamy in the de Molen way, which is to say fantastic. Overall a real pleasure, simple but well crafted and well balanced, round and smooth, better than the Struise version.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a small head. The aroma holds chocolate roast, light oak and some smoke. Some coffee as the beer gets warmer as well as brown sugar and raisins. The flavour is light sweet, near medium bitter and light acidic. Hops, oak, smoke, hard roast, coffee, liquorice and light citrus. The mouthfeel is soft but too light for an Imp. Light carbonation. Roasted and citric/resinous finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle… Dark brown ale with a small, creamy, lightly tanned head. Decent retention. The nose is a mélange of fudge, vanilla and bourbon. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and subdued carbonation. The flavor offers big-time mocha, sweet fudge and boozy bitterness. Burnt, medium bitter, fudge finish. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Heavy malty aroma. Starts strong, intense malty, fiery, strong coffee notes. A bit earty. Hints of bitter chocolate. Finish well balanced, warming. Great Imperial Stout!

Bottle thanks to darkguardian. Black pour with a faint tan head. Big whiskey and roasted malt aromas. The body is a little thin with all kinds of whiskey notes and undercurrents of coffee, bitter dark roasted malts, and caramel..
