3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 0.33l. Pours oily dark brown almost black with low beige head. Aroma is very peaty with iodide, phenol, smokey, some chocolate, dried fruits. Smells like Islay whisky, Laphroaig. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, almost no bitterness, smokey, slightly sour, peaty, dried fruits. Aftertaste is slightly sour, smokey, boozy, Islay whisky. Pretty heavy stuff. More smoke, less peat would make the beer more balanced IMHO. Nevertheless interesting and good.

Aroma of burnt roasted malts, smoked peat, dark fruit, chocolate and some hops. Flavour is moderate sweetness, smoke. Rather mildly smoked, but I like it this way.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap (10-15cl tasting glass) @ Brouwerij de Molen. Thanks Balazs.
Black color, strong beige head. Aroma smoked ham or cheese in the nose, brown sugar, caramel, honey, ash. Taste way too sweet, slightly bitter. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, sweet finish. Interesting combination of sweetness and smoke, but too sweet for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark black body with an off-white head. Smokey woody smell, some syrup, coffee and chocolate. Woody sweet taste. Not overly smokey. Carbonation is a bit much for this kind of beer I think.

1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
12oz bottle dated May ’12 pours near black with very little head. Nose is strong chemical, Sharpie permanent marker. Uh oh. Taste is as if someone took a few Sharpie permanent markers and melted them in the microwave, then poured that into an ashtray, swirled it aroud, added a dash of household floor cleaner, and bottled it. Absolutely disgusting. Drain pour.

Bottle shared thanks to scotchzi! Pours a dark brownish black with bubbly off-white head that leaves little to no lace. Aroma is smoked meat, slight chocolate and roast on the back end. Taste is smoked malt and meat, slight coffee and roast. Heavy on the smoke but very nice.
