Ruikt sterk gerookt, bacon, vanille. Volle smaak, sterk gerookt, vanille. Goede alcohol nasmaak. Beetje stroperige structuur.

Draft at Monks. Nearly opaque cloud brown pour with a soft tan foam that left little jewels of lace. Smokey chocolate caramels. French press toffee coffee. Chewy raisins in molasses. Shoe leather. Plum pudding. Burnt beachwood. Body reads a bit thin yet feels fizzy and gummy on the tongue. Nicely balanced. Gentle sweet smokiness.

330mL bottle dated 06/07/2011. Pours a cloud dark brown with a huge rocky off-white cap. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, coffee. Taste is coffee bitter and has gentle sweet smoke. Medium carbonation mouthfeel besides the crazy cap and slow pour. Sharp creaminess. Dry finish.

Bottle. Teku Glass. Pitch black, with really small beige head, which disappears very qiuckly. Low lacing. The aroma is sweet and smokey - caramel malt, roasted grains, chocolate, also same grapes and plums. Taste is really meaty smoked from the beginning till the end, dark fruits, caramel, touch of bitterness Medium body, semi-sweet, smooth/creamy, medium carbonation. Slick, warming and semi-dry finish. On overall very nice and highly drinkable smoked stout. Worth trying.

330ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein sehr dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht rauchig, röstmalzig, dunkle Beeren, Whiskeymalz. Geschmack holzig, Whiskeymalz, leicht säuerlich, dunkle überreife Früchte.

Aroma - nice beechwood smoke, a little of that smoked ham/jerky quality going on. Appearance - it’s body color is a dark walnut; the liquid is opaque; the head was a simple ring out. Taste - flavor is smoky, a little of that peaty/ham/jerky thing going on, and I personally love it; this beer is the closest beer I’ve tasted that approaches Schlenkerla’s classics. Palate - body is medium; texture is between thin and thick; the carbonation is average; the finish is nice and peaty, and a hidden booze.

Tap at Restaurant Brouwerij De Molen. Pours deep black, with a big foamy top, leaving a beautiful lacing. Aroma.. has some serious roast and serious peat smoke. This is not dry but there are some sweeter fruit flavours, black dried plums. Horse saddle? Taste is sweet at first, becoming drier.. and then the peat smoke enters the stage. Tongue becomes slightly dry and fruits, black cherries keep having fun on it even for longer.

Deep brown pour with tan head. Aroma is maple syrup, smoke, caramel. Flavour replicates the nose. Sweet through the finish with caramel and smoky berries. Nice.

Black pour with tan head. Super peat like aroma with some roasted undertones. Flavors are peat, smoke, light pork tones, some lesser roasty malt tones. Body is a touch thin.

Bottle 0.33l. Pours oily dark brown almost black with low beige head. Aroma is very peaty with iodide, phenol, smokey, some chocolate, dried fruits. Smells like Islay whisky, Laphroaig. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, almost no bitterness, smokey, slightly sour, peaty, dried fruits. Aftertaste is slightly sour, smokey, boozy, Islay whisky. Pretty heavy stuff. More smoke, less peat would make the beer more balanced IMHO. Nevertheless interesting and good.
