Massive, massive, gigantic, huge, big, humungous, cap floating on top, its big is what I’m trying to get across. The body is dark cola brown, lacing is ridiculous. HAHA Wife gave a great description...warm beer festering on a old wooden smokey bar floor. I agree completely but I’ll add a large blueberry sweetness and a after thought of black liquorish. Taste the same but less woody, a touch thinner. Coffee bitter after taste. Cola in the taste??? yes there is! I’m currently watching the very first episode of The Simpsons....Still holds up 23 years later. Light bacon what must be the peat, I dig the fact the peat or "bacon" is light and not a full on assault to the face like some others of the style turn out to be (cough, cough, Mikkeller, cough). Taste is fairly simple, light, high quality , highly drinkable and completely forgettable.

330ml bottle. ½ Pint glass. Enjoyed on apr´12. Nice deep crimson in color. Beige, close & dense froth. Copious, rocky head.Piney aromas, cask wood hues & slightly chocolate fragancy. Gentle smoky touch at first sip. Sweet toasted malts & dark fruit notes. Burnt fudge chocolate hints. Silky & bitter palate. Hoppiness in the middle shows a no bothering oily flavor while lingers into the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smoke & cask wood on the aftertaste. Incredible well balanced & voluptuous flavors. ABV is just a gentle warming sensation masked inside a flavorful beer. Once again De Molen is a winning horse.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sulawang (219) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 21, 2012
pours black with a shade of brown, massive foamy head, very long retention with lots of active CO2 streams. Major peat on the nose. Tastes of peat up front, heavy malts, bitter chocolate, burnt coffee, and finishes with a long deep bitter finish. Medium-high complexity, medium-high depth, good transitions, great carry, great drinkability. Light viscosity compared to a lot of dark roasted beers, this one is closer to water.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Savvy1982 (1441) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle at home, while playing Max Payne 3. Pours hazy cola black into my Minneapolis Town Hall glass; thick pale tan head, quite persistent, excellent lacing. Nose is roundly smoky, with the Bamburg malt more evident than the peat, some light toffee, coffee, and roast are evident here too. Spicy smoke, pungent without being particularly "bacony" which I’m guessing is the influence of the peated malt. Flavours run more towards the bacon end of the spectrum, along with salt, peat, light fruit, and a good deal of toffee. Round and tasty, no faults to be found here, just a very tasty brew.

Bottle 0079, bottled in July, 2010. Must have messed up the storage somehow - heavy medicinal flavors throughout - I couldn’t even finish the bottle, and that rarely happens to me... I swear. Never happens...
