There’s plenty of fruit like orange, tangerine and sweet apples. It’s powerful and full bodied but still easy going. Although the name would suggest otherwise, it’s our favourite amongst the female clientele yet also highly appreciated by the other sex. Well hopped as always, but the obvious alcohol and the massive malt and fruit character restrict the hops to the background, only to reveal itself in the finish. Full bodied, notes of champagne. Champagne mousse after pouring in the glass. Grapes and a hint of mandarin curacao in the aroma, together with a hint of vin mousseux. Malty sweet flavor, immensely full bodied, with mandarine curacao and vinous notes. Thick mouthfeel, just a touch of yeast in the aftertaste. Huge beer. ABV on the label reduced from 15 to 11.9%. Recipe remains the same

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2016 330ml bottle bought at Park Royal. Vintage 13/08/2015. Pours a clear amber with a weak white head. Aroma is sweet, yeasts, figs, fruity. Taste is sweet, fruity, caramel, toffy. To much sweetness though.

Bottle, I forget where from. Classic barley wine appearance, brown oily malt and limited fizz or head. Obviously sweet syrupy fruity prune notes, but also a decent spicy hop kick to balance it out. Alcohol is well hidden and it wasn’t that cloying so well made in that sense. Alcohol does send one to sleep somewhat though. It was nice enough but not sure I’d want to drink this that often...

Bottle from July 2013 @ De Kroon, Mullem. 15,2% alcohol. Hazy amber colour, no foam. Almost no carbonation. Nose of bourbon, honey, vanilla and caramel. Sweet taste, bitter finish. Bit over the top in my opinion.

Keg. Pours medium dark Ruby with a medium opacity and a thin white head subsiding average slow. Scent is medium flowers and some kind of nice grain, indistinct, definitely dense caramel as well. Taste is medium caramel and maybe beet sugar. Fairly overpowering yeast flavor. Finish is clean and a bit ethanol. Great.

Bottle. Medium amber, quite hazy with some yeasty sediment at the end of the pour, soft golden head. Rich sweet fruity toffee profile, sticky and soft, lots of toffee, candied orange, light florals. Very heavy/sticky, but not at all alcoholic. I had no trouble finishing this bottle on my own. Just great!

Butelka 0,33 zabutelkowana 15-01-2016 Pierwszy niuch to uderzenie słodkich, karmelizowanych morel, przeplatanych z śliwkami w słodkim winie. Dalej wychodzi jednak lekka kandyzowana pomarańcza i nie nachalny alkohol. W miare ogrzania aromat sie uspokaja i ukazuje swoje prawdziwe oblicze.

Bottle from Cornelius. Pours hazy deep amber. Nose is toffee, caramel, zest, resinous hops, very sweet. Tastes sweet malty, red fruits, toffee, resin, quite fruity, honey, quite thick. Quite solid but BA versions seem more interesting.
