3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 CarlJonas (135) - Linköping, - NOV 10, 2012Dark copper, no head. Sherry and figs on the nose with some higher alcohol. Malt heavy, sweet vineous taste balanced by lots of warming alcohol. Some peppery bitterness in the finish but I’m not sure if it’s from the hops or the alcohol. Thick liquid but almost no carbonation. More dessert wine than beer but pretty nice.

Bottle, thanks to mrh. Pours opaque brown, small tan head, little lacing. Aroma is toffee, dried fruit, fig, brown sugar. Flavor about the same, very sweet and very boozy, some hops bitterness, a bit of citrus zest. Full body, creamy, borderline chalky mouthfeel.

Bottle @ ansjelaah. Pretty heavy beer with a nice barley wine taste, wood, hops. Heavy though! Short rating due to Wii bowling.

330ml bottle. Clear amber colour with some white bubbles, ascending bubbles built up a reawakening very small white head, a minimally lacing thin layer remains. Malty aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, almond, fruity hints of raisin, orange, candied fruit. Taste is very sweet fruity, peach, apricot, mandarine, grapes, red berries, honey, bitter hop abates the sweetness to some extent, only cautious vestiges of alcohol; flat, though alleviating carbonation, very oily texture, sticky palate. As Barley Wine is for sure not my favourite style, this one is admittedly way too sweet, but luckily doesn’t exhibit that typical bitter almond touch I don’t like or even fear. Suitable to reconcile me with the style.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Peltoch (11) - FRANCE - JUN 17, 2013
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 KyotoLefty (4777) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 6, 2013
2010 bottle. Clear, brown-orange, some light bubbles. Nose of smoke, caramel, chery, grape, honey, peat? Big flavorful burst in the mpouth, orange and honey, spice. Then smoke and gets qa bit raunchy. Too flat. Smoke doesn’t work well with the somewhat Sauternes-like sweet dessery character. A strange brew.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ktwse (779) - SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2013
Pours hazy orange with low frizzy white head. Arona of apricot, peach, mango, passion fruit - like a fruit explosion! Some caramel and toffee in the background perhaps. Taste is incredibly fruit sweet with a booze backbone, only a bit of bitterness in the finish. Creamy and full with practically no carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Garlic_of_Doom (210) - SWEDEN - MAY 30, 2013
Bottle, 2012 vintage.
Aroma hits hard with peach and banana, sweet malt, some saison/brett/ slight sourness as well.
Taste is very sweet with ripe tropical fruits of all kinds, mandarine is most prominent. Canned fruit. Honey, hops and slight alcohol finishes this one of.
Mouth feeling is smooth and sticky, low carbonation.
Strange one...not a typical barley wine at all but very nice nonetheless.
