Bottle. Pours nice hazy, intense deep red. Thumbs up for nice dark beige head and fizzy carbonation. Aroma is malty, vanilla, a bit tart and some wood. Burnt figs and caramel. Fresh! Taste is sweet, portwinish and with a blend of dried fruits and fruity freshness! Caramel and dense malt caracter. Really smooth mouthfeel. Finish is fruity and wooden dry - just what the original needed. Great Barly! Where is the 15,2 % ?

pours unclear bright ruby with a very small off-white cap showing a minimal retention and lacing. chewy caramel and barley sugar, complex array of dark red fruitiness - raspberries, grapes, doughy and fat fruity maltiness - unfortunately a tad garbagy, grape skin, tobacco, earthy undertones. low carbonation, full body - oily and sticky if not cloying, lightly astringent and grassy-spicy finish. a sipper, of course.

Bottle, 33cl, shared by peermac. A dark reddish brown beer, unclear, and topped by a dense, dark beige heaad that lasts. The aroma is quite sweet and vinous, with caramel, dried fruits, some hints of oak and roasted malts, and a pleasant prune touch. Sweet, caramel flavor with lots of dried fruits, a pleasant red wine touch and some oak hints. Decent bitterness too. Full body, not as warming as expected, but almost sticky on the palate. Lasting finish where the warmth is a bit more present. Overall, sure as hell nice, although a bit on the sweet side, even for my sweet tooth. 140406

Cunningham (4329) - Halden, NORWAY - APR 15, 2014
Appearance: Cloudy amber color with no head.
Aroma: Fruity, vinous and mild acidic.
Palate: Full body. Slightly sweet, and a mild bitterness. Soft to flat carbonation. Thick syrup and oily texture.
Taste: Mild round malty, mild oak, mild vinous and pleasant balanced fruity. Plums! No alcohol!
Overall impression: Well I did not enjoy the normal Bommen & Granaten to much. So I did not have to high hopes about this. I could not be more wrong. What a solid powerful and balanced ale. Did not look any good. But who cares? The palate on this was extreme! And 15% abv? Ehh where did they go? Highly recommendable!
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with markextrae.
