ElManana (207) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - OCT 19, 2013
Lighter coloured than expected. Strong aroma of dark fruit, fresher berries, sweet brown malts, grapes and a herbal note. The taste is a tat bit diluted though compared to the normal (and extra hopped) versions. You do get a touch of acidity which is interstingly different. Prefer the original(s) though. This one feels like it doesn’t need 15% alcohol. (On tap at Borefts 2013)

gEUS (1023) - Linden, BELGIUM - OCT 16, 2013
Tap at BBF13 - one of my favourites of the festival - hands down. Pours slightly hazy amber with no head (just some bubbles), faint carbonation (in palate as well) and a rich malt and fruit jam nose. Full full body but the slight tartness is really agreeable! Taste is that typical B&M goodness and added with some sweet wine alike flavours (oaky, sweet grape notes, full peachy notes...). Love it!

Tap at Borefts ’13, 27/09/13. Hazed dark amber/chestnut brown with no head. Nose is big on dark fruits, woody, boozey, soured cherry aroma, tarte fruits, sugars. Taste comprises sweet sugars, earthy tones, dark fruit, sweet cake mix, boozey notes, woody oaky sweet alchol drench. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet in the execution. Decent enough barley wine, the alcohol is well integrated for 15%, a little overly sweet throughout which prevents this one reaching a higher draw for moi !

Draught. Dark amber coloured. Light beige head. Aroma. Berries, ripe fruits, spice, sugar, vanilla and bourbon. Flavour. Ripe fruits, vanilla, sweetness, light caramel, just a tad sourness. Medium to full bodied. Ends fruity and spiced with a light sour touch.

Borefts Beer Festival 5. Day 1. Hazy amber - brown beer, no real head. Palate is smooth with superfine carbonation. Lovely sweet malt with sweet toffee. Nice Port Wine berry fruits and general vibe. These two aspects are well integrated. Finishes smooth. A wonderful sweet, smooth and tasty barleywine and for me beer of the festival. Not the first time for a Bommen & Granaten variant!

Dedollewaitor (13802) - Odense, DENMARK - OCT 8, 2013
Tap @ Borefts Beer Festival, 2013. Pours unclear amber with a small off white head. Sweet fruit, alcohol, glogg and glue. Sweet and warming.

Martinus (2782) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 7, 2013
Slightly hazy brown colour, no head. Aroma of cherry, caramel, malts, brown sugar, wood, syrup, light sour hint. Sweet flavour, syrup, brown sugar, red fruit, wood, red wine, hint of brett. Finish red wine, caramel, cherry and brett. No brett sourness though, only a bit of funk. Bit strange in composition, but enjoyable.
(Draught @ BBF V, Bodegraven. My 2222nd rating)

bierkoning (10146) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - OCT 6, 2013
Draught @ Borefts 2013. Amber color. Vinous aroma, malty. Malty sweet almost sugary flavor with candied fruit and hints of bourbon and vanilla. The brett is hard to notice. Some onion and cabbage flavors. But this does suit the beer, that needs some added complexity. Pleasant.

PotjeBier (1641) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 4, 2013
Tap @ BBF ’13. Brown color. Aroma’s: sour, wood, brett, with sweet malts retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet & sour. Rather strong alcohol feel. Full bodied, heavy. Finishes alcoholic. Nope.
