27th September 2013
Borefts Beer Festival 5. Day 1. Hazy amber - brown beer, no real head. Palate is smooth with superfine carbonation. Lovely sweet malt with sweet toffee. Nice Port Wine berry fruits and general vibe. These two aspects are well integrated. Finishes smooth. A wonderful sweet, smooth and tasty barleywine and for me beer of the festival. Not the first time for a Bommen & Granaten variant!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Borefts ’13, 27/09/13.
Hazed dark amber/chestnut brown with no head.
Nose is big on dark fruits, woody, boozey, soured cherry aroma, tarte fruits, sugars.
Taste comprises sweet sugars, earthy tones, dark fruit, sweet cake mix, boozey notes, woody oaky sweet alchol drench.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet in the execution.
Decent enough barley wine, the alcohol is well integrated for 15%, a little overly sweet throughout which prevents this one reaching a higher draw for moi !
