benhwilkinson (24), Little Soudley, England Oct 6, 2007 Tap from the Mill: Almost black in color with a small light brown head. Notes of caramel. Full bodied with a roasty, malty taste. Alcohol well hidden. A Very interesting Stout. skortila (2388), Bunnik, Netherlands Sep 19, 2005 Updated: Jun 10, 2007Chocolate, roasted malty aroma with some licorice. Hazy, perhaps cloudy black coloured with a lasting, thin, brown head. Taste is sweet, carbonated, quite roasted, malty (choclate and coffee). Bit dry, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Decent body. Just a bit watery. Quite okay brew. Rerate 2007-06-10. On tap @ brewery. This time, not the carbonated experience, but a more creamy stout with a very pleasant mouthfeel. Original rating 3.3, but this beer definately deserves more. caesar (2496), Zeist, Netherlands Sep 22, 2005 Updated: Jun 10, 2007Rerate, first rating was 3.2. I guess the beer has improved. Winning an award at the GBBF and after trying it the second time, i can understand why. Nicely balanced, strong in taste with coffee, mocha, chocolat, roasted malts. Very nice!
Original: Deep black color, thin off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice and some laurel. Sweet taste of heavy roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate. jbrus (4095), Delft, Netherlands Oct 16, 2005 Updated: Jan 8, 2007On tap at the Brewpub. Just a short re-rate. On tap it’s even more beautiful. I love stouts and I love the fact that there’s finally a new good Stout brewed in the Netherlands. Bottled. I think most people should rerate this beer because they probably had a bad bottle. I really liked this a lot. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolat, light herbal and fruity blackberries. Dark ruby color, almost black, brown head, good lace. Light sweet, pretty bitter and even more towards the end, very roasted and fruity. Medium body, light dry and sandy. Not your average stout but a very good beer! bierkoning (4691), La Tropica, Netherlands Mar 18, 2006 A bit light colored, certainly not black but dark brown, this stout. But it is an excellent one! Roast aroma, of course, but also milky, with coffee and chocolate notes, like a refined mocha melange. The flavor is less subtle. Roasted malt, bitter chocolate, maple syrup. Loads of hops. Blackberries, licorice. Very well done, this beer!
