Slightly hazy reddish brown with beige head. Aroma of nuts, candisugar, cherry and blackcurrant. Rochefortish to say the least. Full sweet taste, more fruity than nutty. Syrupy texture but nowhere cloying. Medium to wellbodied. Alcohol is wellhidden. Excellent beer that reminds a bit of Rochefort, but still very much keeps it own character. Just lacks a bit of bitterness to compensate for the sweet taste, otherwise excellent beer.

Pint Winterbierfestival 2007. Aroma is very fruity and malty, some honey in it. Hazy, brown coloured with no head. Taste is quite sweet, dark fruits in it, caramel and toffee malts, oranges. Well bodied. Just like a barley wine.

On tap at the brewpub. Lovely aroma of soft spices with strong vanilla. Dark brown color, beige fine head, very nice lace. Very sweet, soft but strong flavors. Strong bitterness, lots of spices but certainly not aggresive, candy sugar, cardemon, hint of licorice. Very full, smooth mouthfeel but a little dry in the finish. Yes, a Rochfort-like yeast is certainly detectable but Rochefort clone? Don’t think so. It has a complete character of it’s own with the hops used, the softness and it’s easy going.

Dark brown color, no head. Touches of chocolate and honey in the aroma. The beer is still very young. malty, sugary flavor, rather sweet and alcoholic. Chocolate, raisin and plums. A clone of Rochefort 10, perhaps. Not bad at all, but the beer needs further cellaring. The lacing needs improvement. But the flavor is quite nice and fairly complex, although there are some raw edges.
