4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Koelschtrinker (6544) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JAN 23, 2012
Sehr gut! 9/13/12/13/11/13
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 bierkoning (7777) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - NOV 20, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2009 Bottle. Almost black, opague, no head. Dark chocolate, ash, oak and vinous notes in the aroma. Licorice. Black chocolate, Bordeaux wine, licorice, coffee, Assam tea and ash in the amazingly complex flavor. Hardly any carbon, almost flat in fact. Probably needs further cellaring, but this is an amazingly complex, very full bodied flavor bomb.
From tap @ the brewery the beer proved to be well carbonated.

Bottle shared by fata thanks Keith. Pours a dark brune body with a thin off white head. Malty with a mild bourbon wood character. Light vanilla malted milkshakes, creamy velvet texture with a modest warming kinda comes across like maple but not like oxidation. Sweet malty, woody very nice.

Sample at RBWG 2010. Reminds me of stout, but the aroma is also like food, some vegetal in there with roast, etc. The flavor is roast, chocolate, malt, sour, and more. I really like the flavor.

Bottle… RBWG ‘10… Pours very dark brown with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Good retention. Nutty, chocolaty bouquet with heaps of oak and earth. Full-bodied with stinging carbonation. The flavor is chocolaty and scorched and provides notations of espresso and woody, funky tanginess. Crisp, chocolaty finish that dries out a touch. Bottle courtesy of fata2683!

Bottle. Almost black with a small beige head. Tart berries, mainly sour cherries, but with added complexity. It gets even more exciting in the mouth, with oak balancing the tartness. Still very vinous. Drunk young, but the signs of greatness are already there
