Draught (EBF2008)
Black, thin tight head. Sharp aroma. Soft palate which tingles over time. Sherbetty and sweet. Great retronasal experience, but I can’t put words to it. Some coffee. A touch of alcohol in the vapours, but not in the taste. Storming beer.

Draught at EBF 2008. Pitch black coloured with a medium sized lacing beige head. Sweet and light roasted aroma of red wine, oak, vanilla and caramel with notes of coffee. Light roasted flavour of coffee, red wine, oak and hops with notes of alcohol. Roasted, hoppy and warming alcoholic finish. Combines the best from a sour ale with the best from an imperiial stout.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2008 Cask Deep brown, with almost no head. Cognac, cherry, alcohol, wood, fruity, and fusels, and wow. Beautiful balance of alcohol, fusels, wood, fruity esters, dark fruit. Vinous². Viscous, oily MF, just sliding down in a lethal way - perfect balance. Effectively the best Dutch beer ever tasted, genuine masterpiece, whatever mixing it required.

From a big wooden barrel @ European Beerfestival 2008. Pours a hazy brown with a tiny off-white head. Thick flowing. Sweet with aromas of spices and berries - Fruit de bois. Hints of glue. Some alcohol notes especially towards the end.

[on cask at EBF 2008] Explosion of raisins, vinous dark malt, and vanilla and bourbon in the nose. Opaque from black malts and yeast haze under a nice, lacy cover. Excellent spiced raisin flavour with vanilla, liquorice, bourbon oak, and salty accents. No way this is 12.7%. Sour prunes in there too. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderately bitter finish, warming and a bit mouth puckering.

My 5000th rating!
Dark ruby color, thick expresso head. Glueish, fruity, dark berry (plums) aroma. Plummy, alcoholic, sweet touch of wood, licorice. Extremely warming, of course, still young, but already enjoyable. And very interesting what kind of (different) beer can be brewed with Bordeaux yeast by mixing Esra and Rasputin.

på træfad til ølfestivalen, fredag. Sort med råhvidt skum. Karameller, choko, mørke tørrede frugter i smag og duft. let ristet, let sprittet men også blød og rund god fylde. smager rigtig godt . Noget af det bedste på festivalen.
