Tap. Very special liqour like beer. Strong alcohol aroma and flavour yet very integrated and stylish. Clean, powerfull and complex with notes of smoke, caramell, light chocolate and liqourice yet in a rather bright sense. Woud love to try a aged bottled version.

(Draught) Pours dark brown. The aroma holds dry woodsy oak, some fiery alcohol, light roast, butter and light fruits. Light sourish on the nose. The flavour is light to medium roasted and a bit sourish with buttery oak, chocolate and light fruits. Clear alcohol notes. The mouthfeel is round and quite soft. Oak and alcohol on the finish. Medium to full bodied.

Fruity and slightly spicy aroma. The taste is fruity with a tone reminiscent of wine. The flavor also contains roasted caramel malt, hops and alcohol. Very nice and tasty!

750mL c&c thanks to Noize. Poured a clearish deep brown to red. Thick coffee head. Diminishing. Nose is pretty complex and requires about 30 minutes to decant/aerate to bring out complexities. Black pepper is the first note right off the bat followed minutes later by toffee, candied pecans, graham cracker, overripe dark fruits. Taste is a little bit earthy/dirty with cracked peppercorn, spices. Very soft palate. 13% is evident from walking around like an idiot but not found in the mouthfeel/palate or taste. Not sure what the blend is on this one but would be interesting to know. H&V most definitely but perhaps a DIPA in there as well?

Bottle, courtesy GT2. Pour is hazy brown with a tan head, good retention/lacing. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, fruity esters, prunes, hazelnut, light oak. Flavor is very sweet with dark fruit, hazelnut, wood, cocoa notes. Somewhat dry and booze finish, sticky texture, medium-full body. I’d give this a few more years to dry out.

At a tasting in Shachar’s house, thanks DSG, bottle, bottled 8/25/08, cellared 12/2/08, pours dark brown color with a dark off-white head that dissipates quickly, malt aroma, coffee, chocolate and slightly sour flavor, coffee aftertaste, medium body, and overall a very good beer.

A: The beer pours a murky dark brown color with a small off-white/khaki head. S: A pretty malty beer. Lots of toasted bread, caramel, and toffee with a touch of dark fruit. There’s a bit of oak and vanilla character to it as well as a very subtle roast. T: Decently fruity with notes of red wine, raisins, and plums. The malts make up the bulk of the flavor with toast, toffee, and a little bit of caramel and brown sugar. There as a very mild vanilla note as well as a touch of oak. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Fairly smooth on the tongue. O: Sort of muddled, especially the aroma. Not bad, though.
