The first tastes are boozy, but also chocolate, bitter, licqour, little smokey, some ruby red, but the taste develops and after half a bottle (room temp, at home), it kicks in properly: wow. This is amazing. It seemed out of balance. But then it somehow seems to be together. ---Rated via Beer Buddy (iOs)

Bottle @ home. Aroma is sharp liquorice, anise, roasted malt, seems a bit harsh. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, harsh liquorice, varnish, alcohol. A bit much but I like it.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

[ As De Molen Dag & Nacht ].
Clear dark black color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, beige head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, tar - peat, alcohol - buzzy. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, buzzy, peat, wood, tar, berry, raisin - earthy raisins. Body is medium, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is flat, finidh feel is heavy alcoholic. [20140203]

Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry with pretty modest carbonation. Smooth dark malt, no real bitterness or roast. Sweet barrel induced tones of paint and apple, fades in to a little more regular vanilla. Finishes smooth tangy with a touch of chocolate. The paint and apple are holding this back a bit but it’s all right.

33cl bottle thanks to Benzai. Color is very dark. Almost no head. Body is quite smooth. Taste is medium to high bitter and low sweet. Aroma is roasted, chocolate and whisky. It’s not that balanced, but it’s nice.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2014 33cl bottle from ABCBeers,. Thin off white head. Clear black pour. A good RIS but their Hel & Verdoemenis is better.

Bottle from European Local Swap 3.0. Thanks to Benzai. Malty boozy aroma, roasted, vinous, chocolate, hay, sweetish, some licorice. Boozy flavor, vinous, raisins, caramel, licorice, solvent notes. Way too boozy to be pleasant.

Bottle: Served in a Duvel glass: Small beige to light brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of soya, brown sugars, prunes, light vinous, sake, some roast, rum, oatmeal, autumnal leaves, berries, rubber, marzipan, some liquorice and the lightest whiskey tint. The flavour of this beer is quite a mess: apples, soya, yeast, brown sugars, light roast, mint, herbs, mazipan, some green leaves, spices, coal, prune liquor, some liquorice/bay leaf, bitter, some wet wood, port... Strong prune and alcohol taste. Aftertaste is a mix of prunes, roast, spices, alcohol and bitters. Very low to no carbo, mouthfeel between creamy and watery with a spicy edge, full body and a light watery sticky texture. How much I love this brewery, this is one of the worst and unbalanced Imperial Stouts I have tasted from them! Couldn’t finish it!

33cl, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2013, from De Bierkoning Amsterdam, complex Stout, alcoholic/roasted and slightly spicy/fruity, not too heavy, yet not balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, good brew, yet expensive!
