elektronikfagteknikerlærling (893), kbh, Denmark Feb 8, 2007 bottle. brown color. large head. yeasty aroma. lots of carp. sourness and fruity. some earth and wood. bager (1867), Copenhagen N, Denmark Dec 12, 2006 Bottled. Pours reddish brown with a medium sized head. Malty and somewhat roasted. Notes of dark fruits and also has a slight sourness. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Aug 12, 2005 Bottled. Clear dark ruby red colour. Medium foamy off-white head. Aroma consists of a malty, caramelly base with notes of raisins and dark fruits in general. Malty taste, not that sweet, and nutty, bitter. Notes of dark fruits. Finishes nut-bitter and dry. Mediumbodied with a thick, dry texture. I don´t know what this has to do with a doppelbock. I would call it a dubbel. Still, a fine brew, if one likes it bitter and dry, which is not a favourite combination of mine. Many thanks to bierkoning for this interesting beer. Papsoe (9663), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 8, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Reddish brown, clear and presumably filtered. Light brown cappuchino-like head. Dark and malty with a distinct, dry bitterness. But actually this is more sour than bitter, which is very odd for a Doppelbock. We’re almost talking Flemish Sour territory here. Very interesting brew. 261104 madsberg (4362), Bangalore, India Feb 24, 2005 Bottled: Dark amber coloured. Unclear. Dense light brown head. A little bland aroma. Malt and spice present. Flavour of liqourice (my wife says, some horsestable is present!!), fruit and alcohol. Has some sweetness in the end. Is a little vague in both flavour and aroma.
