2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 tderoeck (1594) - Gent, BELGIUM - OCT 14, 2011
11/10/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 14/1/13 (2011-556)
Cloudy yellow to orange beer, some small particles floating around, big creamy solid head, stable and adhesive with beautifull lacing in the glass. Aroma: very floral, hints of citrus and grapefruit, little stale. MF: quite a lot of carbon, medium body. Taste: very weird maltiness, like from smoked malts, fruity, bitter nuts. Aftertaste: citrus and bitter hops. Yes, it was poored down the drain.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 cryptobard (281) - DENMARK - OCT 7, 2011
On tap. Poured light gold. Hoppy, some carbonation, grass, malt, citrus. Something of a departure in my experience with de Molen and I’m not sure it paid off.

75 cl. bottle/shared@Delirium Hoppy Loft: I got used to the idea that De Molen never do a style by the book but always wind up releasing something unique, unlike everything else but to my surprise “Donder & Bliksem” is a straightforward Bohemian Pilsner albeit with more hops than usual, lightly hazy with a white head, lots & lots of strong Saaz-like hops, light yeast, slight bitter fruits, lots of spices, hay, strongly grassy, light & very fizzy

Bottle [330ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow-pale gold with a small diminishing fizzy white head. Aroma of peas, floral notes, some citrus, grassy hops, grain and honey. Flavour of grassy hops, honey and grain along with a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good.

Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Vibrant yellow, quite hazy, nice snow white head. Aroma: Barley, floral, quite a lot of malt in there. Flavour: bitter at first, malty then the saaz hops appear, quite a refreshing brew, long malty finish.

330ml courtesy of harrisoni shared with blankboy and garthicus. Hazy gold, smallish frothy white head. More or less sweet aroma, minerally, intense sweet dry floral character - not all that bitter. Taste is very subtle - elderflower bitterness, light pear sweet malt in the background, just a bit of alcohol around the edges. Soft, oddly thick body, some astringency from the floral bitterness, mild carbonation and a surprisingly long floral finish with a whisper of dry limestone aftertaste. Quite good.
