   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20
JorisPPattyn (7907) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
Mango yellow small head over cold hazed dark red-amber beer. Alcohol and fusels making up for a "hot" nose, and aromatically "rounded off" by good hops. Caramel, toffee, meaty esters, even a faint hint at smoked meat. Bitter by hops, sweet by malt, caramel, alcohol & fusels. Toffeesyrup, dried stonefruit in cake. Quite syrupy, viscous MF; obviously well-bodied, some alcoholwarmth. A hit from the sails of De Molen! Serious stuff, delightful, but one to handle with care.

jbeatty (1022) - New York, USA - JUL 1, 2014
Bottle, thanks to Jeffo, 07/01/2014. Pours dark ruby brown, clear, fizzy light tan head fades to the surface, thin ring of lacing left behind. Aroma is dark bread, overripe red fruit, orange caramel blends to dark earthy pine, brown sugar and some heat in the finish. Taste is caramel, dried red fruit, touch of chocolate and wood, sticky pine hops, grassy spice, bitter. Thick, big body, lots of depth. Tasty sipper.

Bottled. 10cl sample. The aroma has raisin, sugar cane, caramel, red fruits. Clear, brown-red coloured beer with a lasting, white head. The taste is on the sweet side with caramel, raisin, red fruits en wine tones. Nice and thick. Very flavourful.

Bottled. Pours brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar and overripe fruits. Sweet flavor that ends up with alcohol and bitter notes. Full bodied, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. A very nice barley.

Magistral.

75 cl bottle.
Pours cleat ruby red color with a small head. Aroma is very sweet with fruits, mint, chocolate, some wooden notes, faint toffee also. Flavor of caramel malts, some ripe fruits, wood, toffee, distant sugary notes and syrup. Very sweet sticky palate, lingering sweet fruity finish. A slow sipper.

lusikka (6239) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 28, 2014
750 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby amber colour with a lacy head. Aroma of caramel, red berries, grass and some wooden notes. Rich flavour of wood, red berries, caramel, gooseberry bush, bitterness, strong mint, alcohol, citrus and mango jam. Some spiciness. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a long, warming, sweet finish. Heavy but enjoyable.

Very hazy deep amber - red beer, tidy cream coloured head. Palate is softish and slightly viscous. Mild fine carbonation. Big caramel - toffee malt, sweetish. Bruised orange turns to tangy juicy orange, and turns again to spicy piney hops with a very light touch of sherbet. Finishes smooth with good hop spice linger.
