COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with brown malts, an English traditional specialty malt, we created an Imperial Russian Stout that has won prizes at festivals across Europe from Sweden to Italy. It’s big, black, roasted and complex. We are convinced that not trying this ale will be a mortal sin to your taste buds and beer experience. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

Date on the back read: "Feb 29, 2012." This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with no head and no lacing. The smell, still had a nice sweet dark fruitiness up front over some light black licorice and then some sweet milk chocolate, nice good for the most part. The taste was mainly sweet with a nice dark fruitiness up front over the sweet milk chocolate underneath. Fairly sticky in the aftertaste and leading into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body. Sessionability rolls out a fine sticky feel on my tongue. I’d say good. Overall, as an imperial stout, I’d say its nice to have and would have again, it works for the style and for me.

Ótima breja, mas pelo preço, esperava mais. Fez pouca formação de espuma. É saborosa com amargor assertivo. Teor alcoólico não é bem inserido e aumenta a medida que esquenta.

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass dark black, small head. Heavy malty aroma. Starts oily-malty, very strong, alcoholic notes. Very earthy. Hints of strong black coffee. Oily-malty aftertaste. Not bad.

Mocha, roasted malt and smoke rises in the nose and the expectation is steadily increasing. I tastes gently and surprised a bit of a fruity sweetness where prune and fig can be felt. Roasted malt tones with smoky nuances take over the taste buds, but no more than that there is scope to use strong mocha and dark bitter chocolate. Finally rounds it off with little English licorice and a light hoppy bitterness. This is an imperial stout that has everything your heart desires.

Deep brown to black. Chocolate foam. Roasted malty aroma with nutty and chocolate notes. Oily texture. Sweet taste is good balanced by elegant raosted baley notes and some hop bitterness, can feel chocolate as well. Really good imperial stout.

330ml bottle poured in a snifter. A: Pours a deep brown to black color, many remains in the bottom. Forms a small and dark beige head when poured. Good retention, it never disappears completely leaving a brown, fizzy bubbled layer. Some lacings are formed S: Strong notes of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts and wood. Citrus and earthy hops and alcohol in the end T: Very strong taste. Dominated by roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. The 100IBUs do really count here: Deliciously bitter. Strong personality. It’s a dry and bitter beer after all. It has a very creamy and molasses body but not much about sugar M: Extremely creamy and molasses body. Low carbonation. Delicious bitter aftertaste O: Absolutely drinkable beer despite of the 10.2% ABV. Great beer [ BA Review @ 2/11/2012 ]

"if not for the out of control yeast which bubbled over and gave the beer major floatie issues even with a slow-ass gentle pour, this beer would have been epic. the aroma and flavor are simply fantastic! reminiscent, a little, of bottled NC Rasputin, but with more tar, a touch of dark fruit, licorice, and smoke. carbonation high, but the feel manages to still be big slick and oly. awesome beer i’d like to have kegged...the yeast issue was almost a turn-off."
