COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with brown malts, an English traditional specialty malt, we created an Imperial Russian Stout that has won prizes at festivals across Europe from Sweden to Italy. It’s big, black, roasted and complex. We are convinced that not trying this ale will be a mortal sin to your taste buds and beer experience. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

75 cl bottle. Dark brown allowing a bit of light around the edges; no head. Nose is Hershey’s syrup, espresso and vanilla. Medium body with soft carb. Not as thick as expected. Taste very much like the aroma. Rich chocolate and fudge with dark roast, brandy and bitter grass. Yummy.

Appearance: solid black with little to no head, erring on the side of no head. Wee bit of chunks on the bottom with the hue of dark cappuccino foam. Swirls with a bubbly crema color.
Nose: fudge, dark chocolates, dark fruits; dates and prunes predominantly. Dried black cherries and black raisins. Boozy background oozes melted caramel topped fig newtons and black rummy warmth. Black root and black strap molasses mingles well while holding its own.
Palate: clean and mouthcoating. Fudge and pure wholesome chunky chewy chocolates, the darker the better please. Caramel melts in the warmth which lingers long and soothingly in the back of each quaff. Caramel chocolate nougats. Thick dense chocolate cakes with fudge swirls weaving in and out; touch burnt along the edge which adds to the thickness. Black root and licorice root are almost interchangeable. Exceptionally smooth and balanced given her overall richness. No discernable head though some espresso crema hued tears can be seen blanketing my glass.
Final Thoughts: I have yet to venture into a De Molen beer which did not amaze and delight; their Hel & Verdoemenis is no exception. A tiny brewery brewing tiny batches of fantastic beers is quite alright with me.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours dark with probably the most effervescent tan head that I’ve ever seen -- it hardly stopped rising in the glass, beware (they do advise that it’s good for 25 years, so having it young has its dangers)! Harmony of notes on the nose of deep roast, mainly of coffee and malts. Similar on the palate with some dark bitter chocolate thrown in, but very smooth with it. An intriguing beer, with no shortage of character.

Bottle. PItch black no head. Coffee, light peat and licorice dominates the aroma. Flavour is sweet malty with coffee notes and some licorice. Totally flat carbonation. The alcohol is very well hidden.

This 750mL beauty is courtesy of madmitch76, thanks Ken. It pours very dark with almost no head. The cork came off with out much pop so the carbonation may have leaked off over the past year. The aroma is full yummy dark roasted malts, toasted wood, some mild oaky spices, chocolate and black strap molasses. The taste starts a touch astringent as well as slick velvety and on the thin side in body. It quickly lets loose loads of molasses, burnt molasses, burnt oak (these are all faintly burnt notes), firm yummy chocolate, velvety smooth fudge and mild oaky spices. Wow, this comes together wonderfully and is just rich complex smooth yummy goodness.

Mumsig eftersmak. Det är bara att njuta!

A nice smooth black and oily textured stout with a dry end to it. I get roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, dark dried fruits and some hops at the end. Very nice balanced!

Bottled 750ml. -from bierkompass.de; Birthday gift from my girlfriend, tasted for her birthday.
Bottle No. 257 of 362. Pitch black coloured, small to medium sized brown head, chocolate nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee with notes of vanilla and wood. Alcohol is noticable in the finish. Well balanced and great imperial stout. Goes well with tiramisu cake.
