COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with brown malts, an English traditional specialty malt, we created an Imperial Russian Stout that has won prizes at festivals across Europe from Sweden to Italy. It’s big, black, roasted and complex. We are convinced that not trying this ale will be a mortal sin to your taste buds and beer experience. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

Bottle… Pours very dark brown with no head. The earthy, malty, fruity bouquet bursts at the seams with chocolate, charred oak and sherry cask aged whiskey. Full-bodied and ultra creamy with trace carbonation. The flavor is sweet and chocolaty; moderately bitter and burnt. The alcohol is somehow understated. Chocolaty, roasty finish. Bottle courtesy of plovmand!

A pitch black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of coffee malts with dark fruits, chocolate and notes of wood. The taste of coffee, with chcoclate, dark fruits, some wood. Very good balance. A nice combination of bitter and sweet. The aftertaste is some sweet moving to bitter, with notes of wood.

Another hopscotch special. This dutch hellion has a big body and is actually very smooth. The blackness has a roasted chocolate, burnt wood, alcoholic coffee taste.

A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. Would get again fo sho. I wish I didnt have it completely shit faced, but what I remember was a unique and tasty stout that had a more profound roastiness and relied on standard stout flavors instead of loading it with shit.

Thanks to a Ratebeerian and Joe T’s place for this opaque pour with aroma of oak, chocolate nibs and raisin paste. Body feels heavy, partially since this beer is nearly still. There’s some stickiness, a detergent note that deters me from rating higher. There’s a mystic here, not a mistake, that makes me want to revisit this beer another time...something lost in transit I bet.

(Bottle, purchased at The Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam) Very dark brown colour, almost black, with brief bubbly beige head. More or less still, with no cabonation. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dried fruit, chocolate and hints of wood. Slightly vinous. Malty, slightly fruity taste with dried fruit (raisins, prunes), liquorice, dark chocolate, sweet espresso and a long slightly vinous finish. Full body, smooth and silky. Fairly sweet. Possibly more fruity and vinous than the original version, but and excellent beer.
