Drunk to celebrate my rating 22,100. Bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of wood, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, and cognac. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol, cognac, vanilla, and a bit of wood, leading to a dry roasted and alcoholic finish.

On tap. Pours an opaque black with hardly any head. Sweet Brandy aroma, coffee and chocolate. Intensely full-bodied with almost no carbonation, fat accents of hard roasted malt, vanilla and Brandy with a piquante edge of wood. Some malt bitterness in the finish combined with a warming alcohol. My kinda beer! 160509

CBF09. 33 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a fully gone head. Aroma is dense chocolate roasted malt. Light smoked note. Smooth sweet chocolate with a distinct vanilla note. Vanilla and sweet flavoured finish alongside a nice roasted chocolate malt flavoured finish.

Bottled (from Ölkonsortiet, Aalborg). Pitch black colour, not much head. Aroma is coffee, liquorice, some caramel malts as well as mild sherrylike notes. Flavour is coffee, liquorice, toffee, smoke and roasted malts. All in a good balance. Yet another very balanced and pleasant brew from De Molen.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Near black, abdolutely no head. Rich chocolatey nose. Sweet and dense, very chocolatey with full body. Prickly with white pepper, lots of milk chocolate, almost no carbonation. Feels viscous, almost thick. Sweetness comes through in the finish.

Bottle at Københavnske Øldage 2009 Black color, no head. The aroma is a bit papery, breadish, with light vanilla and cognac. Good body, excellent mix of chocolate, roasted malt, cookies, sweetness, cognac, sweet nuts, light alcohol, light coffee. Well balanced, yet powerful. Great!

Black with a tinybeige head. Sweet aroma with dark chocolate, burned malt and espresso. Flavour was huge with burned malt, dark chocolate, wood, espresso and cognac. Full bodied. A master piece! Once again a brilliant beer from Menno.
