Cask@GBBF2007. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma is really fruity and hoppy along with caramel. Flavour is honey, fruits, some slight papery nose and really caramelly. A very nicely balanced thing.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Pale blonde colour. Probably a 2 but I’m being generous. Amyl nitrate and floral gums aroma. Fairly bland flavour with some grassy hops and grapefruit and some cheap lemonade. Strange and worth a try. Hats off to de Molen for doing a cask bitter. (2.7) ***RE-RATE*** Cask at GBBF. What a difference. Amazing what a bit of condition can do. Lovely hoppy and floral stuff with a good balance. Superbly drinkable. Citric character that was almost unpleasant last time I had it has now become a really pleasant bitterness. Liked it.

Bottle@Home, June 07, 3.5: Nice complex aroma, grassy, grapefruit, hints of orange and floral. Hazy, dark yellow color, huge irregular white head, good lace. Bottled. Had this one after 40km mountainbiking, probably anything would taste great :-) But this sure is a nice one. Strong flowery hoppy aroma. Hazy, yellow-orange coloured with ugly brown yeast particles. I probably should have been more carefull with the bottle when pouring it in the glass. I was too eager. Taste is quite bitter, a bit sweet, some grapefruit in it and very flowery hoppy. Quite strong on the good quality british hops. Very pure, clean taste. Fantastic!

Bottled. Hazy golden with a rich fluffy foam. Flowery and hoppy aroma of lemon and grapefruit. Flowery and slightly resiny flavour of lemon, male malts and grapefruit. Long medium-bitter finish of grapefruity hops. Now this was a surprise from this brewery!

Cask at GBBF 2006. An unclear orange beer with no head. The aroma is very American with notes of grapefruit reminisence of Cascade. The flavor is a bit watery with notes of fruit - especially oranges as well as light notes of malt leading to a slightly acidic bitter end.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2009 Sold as "Engels" in the brewery tap in Bodegraven. 5% ABV. Golden color, hazy. Aroma has coreander, hops, citrus and flowers. "No coreander in there"’, says brewer Menno Olivier, "but I’ve used Zatec hops for dry hopping". The beer only has 22 EBU, but thanks to the dry-hopping it seems much more. Light hopbitter flavor with flowers and citrus. Lovely beer, I especially liked the aroma. 8 3 7 4 15 = 3.7 Bottle. Orange blonde color. Grapefruit, wood and raspberry in the quite outspoken aroma. Dry-hopping, no doubt. Pleasant hopbitter flavor with grapefruit. Dry out effect. Fairly long hopbitter aftertaste with grapefruit and red berries. Excellent beer!! Re-rate: Corked bottle, tasted feb 09. The color has become just a bit darker. Thin, but the American hops are clearly noticeable.

Cask (GBBF 2006): Weird, tastes like a nice golden ale! Golden colour with a flat apperance. Nice grassy citric hops and grapefruit. Good biscuity malt to back it up. Tasty stuff.
