3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 3, 2010
330 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. It was discounted, so I hope that doesn’t mean it’s old. Pours a cloudy bright gold with a huge, frothy, rocky white head that leaves soapy lacing in the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, orange peel, pine, soap, pale malts, yeast, and pepper. Flavor of grassy hops, pine resin, tangerine, pale malts, yeast, straw, pepper, soap, and a late metallic note. Starts nice and malty, and finishes with some bitterness and metal. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation. This is better than I thought it would be.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 thegreenrooster (2438) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 20, 2010
Pour is a blond with a large white head. Aroma is a lingering hop with some apple cider in the backround. Flavor is super dry and chalky. Some ginger maybe comes out but again finishes super dry. No real aftertaste just again super dry. This was wierd and not very good.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Tranquillity (1314) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 20, 2010
Bottled, bought somewhere in Amsterdam. This looks like a normal lager. I had this after the gym, so even a Heineken would taste good. But the aroma is great, some hops, even a bit flowery. The taste is great. It tastes like a normal lager, with some added hops. It’s not a very complex beer, but it’s just very good at what it’s doing. Great refreshment a hot summer day!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (2918) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 17, 2010
Wee nip bottle from Hope Valley Bottle Shop, Durham. Fairly bright amber pour, with only moderate carbonation (was hoping for a bit more in a cask-envying brew). Nose is pleasant, a mixture of hay, young fruit, and bready malts. Mouthfeel is medium, the extant carbonation lasting throughout. I found the flavor to be a bit disjointed: dry, bitter, with some strange additions like lemon peel crossed with Brazil nut.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 kschep (1229) - DENMARK - NOV 7, 2010
Nose of weak hay, lemon, late bitter hops, feel is weak and carb is medium. Taste is pilsner 101, late lemon
