UPDATED: JUN 9, 2013 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to sebletitje – pours pitch black with an creamy brown head – smells deliciously burned & harshly toasted but none of that ashes crap in here, toasted fruity hops, lots of smoked wood & yummy bacon – tasted is burned goodness, smouldering campfire in the morning, burned wood, toasted malts, fruity hops shining through & bacon mixing in with even more leather, yummy tar, nice & creamy – glorious slightly odd mess, just the way I love it, one of my favourites if not probably my favourite of the incredible RBWG line-up, screw balance, viva oddness – bottled on 20/07/2011

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2013 75cl Bottle at AHBS 1MAY2012. ABV 11%. Black colour, big fluffy beige head. Aroma of full on peaty smoke, chocolate, hard roasted malts, hops, tobacco, nuts, just great. Flavour is roasted malts, smoke, peat, earth, ash, chocolate, hops, great malt flavour to back up all the smoke, nice bitter finish. This beer was all over the place and very extreme, but God I loved it. Glad I have another bottle of this nectar. Re-rate 7MRT13. 75cl Bottle shared at Lost Property, ABV 11%. Aroma and flavour are more leaning towards a tarry smoke now, tobacco and ash still present, a touch less sweet and less chocolate than I remembered, but still great stuff. Rating stays intact.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark brown beer with a long lasting creamy beige foam; superb lacework; robust aroma showing an interesting battle between a solid smokiness and a robust hoppiness; smoed bacon, cream and fruity tones; full-bodied and a velvety palate; strongly bitter and hugely smokey; long notes of almonds and ripe fruits; some residual sweetness - a complex and challenging fireworks !

Bottled, 75cl. The aroma has smoked peaty meat, citric hops, roasted coffee. Black coloured with a nice, firm, creamy beige brown head. The taste is moderate bitter, smoked and peated, citric and roasted. Ashy, dry mouthfeel, lingering hops and malts on the taste buds. Really a nice piece of art. My bottle says it has 11% alcohol.

Bottle from brewery. Dark brown color with huge beige head towering over my glass. Aroma of roasted malt, smoked bacon. Taste, roasted malt , hops, overlapped wit strong smokiness. Strong smokey bitter finish. Excellent.

Bottled. Tar and old ropes, you almost hear the creaking of old timer. Strong smoky flavour over a fine malty beer base, nice bitterness, too.

Black color, medium sized head, beige, creamy. Very nice aroma of smoke, chocolate, and something pungent, probably the hops, fruity. Good body, with very smooth mouthfeel; roasted malt flavor, dark chocolate, smoke, strong bitterness and light sourness. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours deep brown to black with a lovely, creamy beige staying head. Aroma has lots of smoke, light chocolate, grassy hops, liquorice. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has smoke, liquorice, vinious, peat, citrus and grass. Lingering, warming bitterness. Really well put together.

Bottle @Pikkulintu. Bottled 09/2011. Poured almost black with a lasting brown head. Smoke and tar in aroma. Nice smoky, lingering peaty whiskey notes. Slightly bitter finish, lots of smoke here as well. Really liked this one.

Dark brown-black colour, tan head. Smoky aroma, malts, light hops on a background of burned malts. Sweet smoky flavour, smoky whisky, quite bitter hops and bitter roasted malt tones. Finish smoky and bitter. The first black IPA I’ve tasted that really makes sence to me.
(From 75cL bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen. Thanks for sharing, sebletitje!)
