skortila (4160) - Baarn, - JAN 21, 2012
Bottled, 75cl. The aroma has smoked peaty meat, citric hops, roasted coffee. Black coloured with a nice, firm, creamy beige brown head. The taste is moderate bitter, smoked and peated, citric and roasted. Ashy, dry mouthfeel, lingering hops and malts on the taste buds. Really a nice piece of art. My bottle says it has 11% alcohol.

Bov (7354) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - MAY 18, 2012
from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark brown beer with a long lasting creamy beige foam; superb lacework; robust aroma showing an interesting battle between a solid smokiness and a robust hoppiness; smoed bacon, cream and fruity tones; full-bodied and a velvety palate; strongly bitter and hugely smokey; long notes of almonds and ripe fruits; some residual sweetness - a complex and challenging fireworks !

Borresteijn (2757) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 1, 2012
75cl Bottle at AHBS. ABV 11%. Black colour, big fluffy beige head. Aroma of full on peaty smoke, chocolate, hard roasted malts, hops, tobacco, nuts, just great. Flavour is roasted malts, smoke, peat, earth, ash, chocolate, hops, great malt flavour to back up all the smoke, nice bitter finish. This beer was all over the place and very extreme, but God I loved it. Glad I have another bottle of this nectar.

750mL c&c from Nederlands Biercafe ’t Arendsnest. Pours with excellent carbonation. A thicker, beige head erupts on a near black pour. Huge rocky retention. Muted smoked meat nose with floral hops and zesty spring garden mix. Huge sheety lace. Taste is tangy, thicker chocolater, spicy, mild plastic and sharp black olive. Tangy with muted spicy smoke. Clearly smoked. No dry hop IPA character. Smoked porter might be better. I like it. Spicy smoked character is nicely integrated. No off characters really. Plastic and olive die out with decanting and warming. Very interesting. 11% unnoticeable until a half snifter is downed. Requires some patience. Rich and spicy with nice smoked character. Excellent.

Papsoe (22987) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy dark brown - close to black - with an orange hue and a creamy beige head leaving some lacework. Distinct peaty iodine aroma. Medium-bodied only, very minerally - salt and iodine - burned malt, distinct peaty smoke. Ends in a somewhat tired mouthfeel, distinctly bitter finish from both malts and hops although the hops on the aromatic level are completely overpowered by the peat. But for a peat hater like me this at least is drinkable. 280212
