Draft. A black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of apples, malt, and smoke. The flavor is sweet with notes of apples, malc, caramel, smoke, and fruits, leading to a tart finish.

Very stout looking beer. Black, light brown head. Smells like stout e.g. malty. Taste is sweet had raw. I assume there is plenty of hops in this one, which makes this unusually bitter stout. I do like the combination. Otherwise everything is quite as you could expect, strong aromas, plenty of alcohol, long lasting taste which develops to complex hop aromas. Overall a beer one can be proud of.

/12/11/12//13

On tap at the ACBF 2011. Deep black in the glass, small head. Deep malty aroma. Starts sweet and malty, very well balanced. Malty with notes of chocolate and some caramel. Finish warming, well balanced, soft-malty. Great beer!

Thank you Jan/Fonefan for sending me this hand-bottled treasure. The beer is pitch-black and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, sourness and salt licorice. The mouth-feel is fat. The flavour is moderately sweet and sour with notes of roasted malt, salt licorice, leather, sour berries, and the refreshing sourness continues and develops in the long, sour and roasted finish.

Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a dark brown body, next to black, and with a small, tan head on top. The aroma roasted malts, some balsamic vinegar, a touch of raisins and barnyard, and with a lemony touch. It’s surprisingly sweet in the mouth, with some balsamic vinegar and raisins, as well as roasted malts and alcohol. Full-bodied and dry, slightly puckering. Lasting roasted finish with the same flavors found in the initial flavor. A really nice one, I would like very much to have regular access to it. 110416

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Tart, Bretty leathery aroma with some roast. Solid body, low carbonation, tart and Bretty, very leathery with an amazing funkiness. Underneath you feel a little roast and dark dried fruits but the base beer is pretty downplayed. No real alcohol feel. Good job Menno - and Jan! 160411
