UPDATED: MAR 10, 2012 750 ml bottle from bierkompass! This was my Rating N° 1000, in May 2010!!!!!!! the glass pours a pitch black and completely opaque beer with a creamy flat head. The smell is absolutely intoxicating already! Coffee roasting, restrained smoky, berry-fruity-chocolatey, the juniper flavor comes through very subtle. Starts coffee-bitter, with hints of chocolate, similar to a good Imperial Stout, also very very chocolaty berry with good fruit nuances. The smoke flavor is hard to taste, but it comes more and more to advantage, at the center part! The aftertaste is bitter chocolatey, very long finish. The finish is then more bitter, the chocolate berry flavor remains dominant until the last sip. One of the best beers, I’ve rated so far!

Pours black good tan head, not too thick but substantial. One of the more interesting noses i’ve smelled. contains roasted malt and coffee notes, strong hints of barnyard or more specifically a petting zoo. the juniper def comes through and blends well with the earthy notes. lastly the smoky elements give it a slightly ashy overall aroma. After all that the flavor is surprisingly mild but still very delightful. kind of burnt and bitter with little waves of sweetness going in and out of it. The smoky and roasted notes primarily dominate. slightly creamy mouthfeel rounds everything out and creates a very interesting and excellent beer.

Bottled. Very deep ambery brown colour, not much head. Aroma is smoked malts, juniper, alcohol and mild raisins. Flavour is quite much the same. This is actually a very cool interpretation of an "all-Baltic-Sea" traditional style beer. it’s not Gotlandsdricka, it’s not Sahti nor Koduõlu, but still you can find some remains from these with some nice complementing ingredients. Slight peated malty notes as well, giving an interesting touch to it.

Bottle. Deep intense black pour, medium sized creamy and dense brown head. Aroma of hops, juniper, some smoke, oak, roasted malt, faint peat and some liquorice. Flavour is bitter of peat, oak and smoke, sweet of liquorice, peated malt, smoke, juniper and coffee. Lingers on for ages. Wow, awesome beer!

Big thanks to bierkoning for this one. The bottle looks simple, but really good. The beer in the glass deep black, nice head. Starts very strong, malty-roasty, quite smoky from the beginning, scratchy-prickly. Finish a bit softer, warming-malty, still wonderful smoky, very well balanced. Tastes like a smoky Imperial Stout. Wonderful!

A black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of fruit, berries, dark malts, with some hints of chocolate. The taste of roasted malts with coffee and chocolate notes, fruits like some berries with spices. A little burny. The aftertaste of roasted malts with bitter and sweets.

750 ml bottle - 222/432 2010 vintage. Pours deep dark brown with a creamy thick light beige head. Aroma of raw and earthy nuts, cinnamon, coffee, chocolate and maple syrup and hone - very "thick" and rich aroma. Medium to full body with a rich sweet mouthfeel, bitterness-smoke kick in as from the middle (very well balanced) and a slight spicy end. Taste is blueberries mixed with dark dark dark chocolate... Not really a veggie beer, but rather smoked porter to me. But quite perfect!

75 cl. Bottle. The aroma has coffee beans, roast, some smoke, juniper. Black coloured beer with a beige, big, lasting head. Good looks there. The taste is slightly bitter, bit sweet. It has coffee, roast, some chocolate, some smoke and juniper. Quite a good balance and very smooth. Medium-full bodied. Good one.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Dark brown body with medium brown head. Roasty and chocolate nose. Taste of malts, wheat, chocolate and espresso. With a sweet, medicinal and grassy taste to it. And only very slightly smoked. Really good.
