Marvelous smoked beer. Rich in taste with a moderation to the smokiness. i never knew juniper could work out so nicely. Shared with a friend who appreciates smoke, worked lovely with its bold slightly imperial stout and spicy taste with a long and multi course lunch.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thewolf (8626) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAR 26, 2011
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Deep brown pour, looking almost black. Massive, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has lots of smoked malts, tar, luscious dark chocolate. Medium carbonation, lovely creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely, lots of smoked malts but not all that - instead, there is wonderful herbal dryness, lots of dark chocolate, mild coffee, juniper. Mild vinious, but there is enough mouthfeel and dryness to balance it wonderfully. A very nice beer.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Grima (1573) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - JAN 21, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2012 750 ml bottle from bierkompass!
This was my Rating N° 1000, in May 2010!!!!!!! the glass pours a pitch black and completely opaque beer with a creamy flat head. The smell is absolutely intoxicating already! Coffee roasting, restrained smoky, berry-fruity-chocolatey, the juniper flavor comes through very subtle. Starts coffee-bitter, with hints of chocolate, similar to a good Imperial Stout, also very very chocolaty berry with good fruit nuances. The smoke flavor is hard to taste, but it comes more and more to advantage, at the center part! The aftertaste is bitter chocolatey, very long finish. The finish is then more bitter, the chocolate berry flavor remains dominant until the last sip. One of the best beers, I’ve rated so far!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (8579) - Thisted, DENMARK - NOV 25, 2010
It’s black-red with a golden, creamy head and a soft and nice aroma of smoke and licorice. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of juniper, smoked malt, licorice and it has a dryness, probably from the juniper. It’s quite complex and nice.
