FRIS & FRUITIG MORELLEN LAMBIEK BORDEAUX BARREL Fruit Lambic – 5,6% vol. Each flavour component plays so beautifully off each other that it is like watching a well done stage play. A pair of characters would present themselves on your palate and trip delicately around your senses. With each unveiling, new complexity was found and a new sensation. Subtle, refined, delicate, nuanced.

This poured a rusty reddish pink. It had the flavor of strawberries on the verge of becoming over-ripe, and it smelled like teryaki sauce. I think it would be nice with Asian food or salad.

Tap @ Mikkeller. Hazy maroon red pour with a small pinkish head. Aroma is heavy on brettanomcyes, lots of plum and reddish fruit meat. The brett is very dusty, lots of leather notes, and there is a rather noticable note of bourdeaux barrel. Dry oak, spicy bourdeaux, very funky. The funkiness is complimented by the fresh fruitiness. Lovely. Taste is pretty much like eating a perfectly ripe plum. Some acidity and bretty funkiness in lines of plum zest, and lots of sweet fruit meat in the taste. The brett is heavy, still. The bourdeaux provides a spot on spiciness that blends in fantastically with the other elements of this beer. Drinkability is through the roof. Fuck, this is good.

Bottle @ Monks CafÈ Wallingatan. Pours hazy brownish ruby with a very small pinkish beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is slightly fruity sweet and sour with cherries, burnt sugar, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, dark grapes, lemon zest, hay, barnyard, dry soil and hints of sherry. Taste is very tiny fruity sweet, sour and fruity with sour cherries, lemon juice, hay, lemon zest, horse blanket and hints of bread, wood and burnt sugar. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, slightly tart, slightly smooth and medium bodied. Finish is dry and tart with sour cherries, lemon juice, hay and dry soil. Not very lambic like but still a quite good sour.

Bottle at Monk’s Café Wallingatan. Bit hazy, red/pink liquid with small to medium white head. Aroma of cherries, wood, stone fruit, raspberries and some light funk. Taste is dry and light sour with light bitterness and cherry notes. Some light acidic action but not much. What’s to expect of a "lambic" with 20 IBUs? Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. OK but a bit boring.

The beer is a fairly clear ruby red color with some floaties in the bottom of the glass. Smells mostly just like cherries without much in the way of complexity. Moderate tartness of lemon, a hint of red wine, and maybe some oak. Flavor is tart cherry pie with some lemon and cherry skin. Very light wine and barrel notes to it. Good, but a little bit one note for me.

Naja... 9/8/8/7//7

Copenhagen beer festival. Clear red beer, pinkish head. Nicely tart. Just a touch of cherry. Not my favourite style but liked this.
