COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This imperial stout was oak aged on wooden barrels with cherries and Brettanomyces yeast. You can imagine the complexity of this beer.

Bottle # 45. @ J&C, Friday session, 2011. Thanks. Pours black with some small beige bubbles on top. Nose is roast, soy and liquorice. Vinous and delicious. Flavor is dry and roasted with notes of soy, oak, dark fruit, liquorice and a bit of warming alcohol.

75 cl bottle. Pours black with virtually no head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, some chocolate and also a hint of cherries. Sadly enough I didn’t get the bretty notes. Except for the lack of brett, which will hopefully develop if you let it sit a bit longer, and carbonation, a very interesting brew.

Bottle from Ken and Menno. Black as hell. Thin collar of tan bubbles. Tarry impy stout aroma. No carbonation at all. Bit of cherry choc liquer in the mouth. Finish has a lot more choc. Some ok cherry flavour. No brett funk yet it may wake up later. I think the others are a tad harsh on this. I liked it. Cherry and mint on aroma. Apart from lack of crbonation I liked it.

Courtesy of madmitch76 and shared with the ACBF 2011 crew (harrisoni, mesandsim, royceh - thank you guys!). Nice cherry in the nose, thin sip, slight kirsch after-burn. Interesting.

A Sim rate (bottle at the literal & lateral tasting, thanks to Ken): Complexly licquoricey stout aroma. Licquor, herbs & dark bitter chocolate. Flavour is grainey, sambuca and quite a bit of sharp alcohol. Can’t detect the brett. Enjoying it, but the dryness really packs a punch.

75cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, no head, absolutely lifeless. About the 4th flat (expensive) bottle from De Molen in a row, this is getting annoying. Aroma of chocolate, sweet roasted malts, bourbon, coffee, hint of cherries and blackberries, slightest hint of Brettanomyces funk. Flavour is sweet, vanilla, chocolate, bitter roasted malts, bitter coffee, light fruity, chocolate and coffee in the finish. Medium bodied, no carbonation, making it a bit watery at times. Good beer, carbonation would make this stunning.

kerolasa (409) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2011
Brewed Jul 23, 2010; bottled Dec 2, 2010; bottle #350. Strong smell of alcohol, I can sense stout even with eyes closed. Colour is very dark, almost black, with a hint of red. First sip is bitter and woody. After a while aroma changes to be chocolaty, nutty, basement and a little bit like licorice. This is interesting, but not something I’d like to have often due heaviness of the drink.

Had this one at the Winterbierfestival 2011, Gouda. Dark brown colored brew. Complex aroma of various barrels (Wild Turkey and Bourbon), licorice, chocolate and cherries. Flavor has a good mouthfeel, good maltyness, licorice, roasted malts, cherries, the oaks, bourbon and vinous tones. And the Brett is present, blends in nicely after a while. Original beer.

Tap at Winterbierfestival, Gouda: Black coloured brew with beige foamy head, taste of roasted malts and hints of red Bordeaux-wine and American Whiskey. Pretty impressive brew.

Countbeer (4317) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JAN 24, 2011
Draft @ PWBF’11: Small airy brown head on top of a deep dark brown to black beer. Smell liquorice, chocolate, yeast and light sour. Taste is a mix of nuts, liquorice, brown sugars, hints of wood, yeast, sweets and alcohol. Bitter and light dry in the end. Oily texture. Low carbo, full body and a soft oily mouthfeel.
