Bottle:
Thanks Rene:
Vanilla yellow colored minimal and airy foamy head. Changes quick in some bubbles on top of a hazy ruby red colored beer.
Aromas of raisin, barleys, oatmeal, dogfood, some light and creamy spices, some hops and a hint of someone who has been to a festival without washing him/her-self for a couple of days...
Flavours of barleys, cream, spices, rye, hint of alcohol, warmth, alcoholic and sticky peach, malts, peach, mango, some pepper, some bitters, herbs and yeast.
Aftertaste sticky, warm, barley malts, light floral and bitter.
Low to no carbo, silky mouthfeel, more full than medium body and a creamy oily texture.
With a bit of air and time it seems to get better and better. Alcohol is pretty well hidden and this pretty easy drinkable.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2012
Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam, bb 13.1.2013 Cloudy amber color; small head, but persistent. The aroma is full and malty, with light fudge, very Thomas Hardy’s like; later there is a very light cheesy impression. Full bodied barley wine, with very good malt flavor, some fudge, rich, sweet, round; light nutty touch; the bitterness is quite elevated, surely balanced; and the warming alcohol is a pleasant complement. A bit more American than the classic Thomas Hardy’s Ale, more intriguing than all the American hop monsters.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Borresteijn (3641) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 18, 2012
33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost clear dark ruby amber colour, dense orange/yellow-ish head. Aroma of bitter oranges, clementines, some citrus, leafy hops, sweet malts. Flavour is quite sweet, malty, sugar, bitter oranges, firm but smooth hoppy bitterness, a bit of toasted malts, firm bittter finish. Full-bodied, smooth, a tad too sweet imo. Not my favourite style of beer, but this is quite good. Cheers Thomas, always enjoyed having a beer and a chat during your shifts, good luck on the study!

A little marmalade citrus, mildly bitter. Stuck together with nice malt cream. Tasty BW. And Hi Thomas - hope you are enjoying school again! :)

Bourben cherries appearance with a minimal head that went away fast. Sweet aroma and flavor with cognac, cherry-liquer, lurking hops, cocoa.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 erickok (2280) - Tours, FRANCE - OCT 30, 2012
Glowing red body and very hazy, with bubbly active beige head. Nice hop forward barley wine aroma, with rich resin like hop profile and sweet humous malts. Refreshing and powerful over sticky and dark. Smooth carbonation that needs its malt base to counter all those modern hops to end up with a full body feel. More an American/Danish than an English/dessert barley wine. Very flavourful and much more easily drinkable and fresh than expected from the 12%. Dangerously so! Not because it’s watery or low profile, but because its smooth and exciting with enough bitterness. Great brew. (33cl bottle, thanks John!)
