Keg at the Rake, 19/06/15. Murky chestnut brown with moderate off white spotting @not a looker. Nose is toffee, light cocoa, roast malt, spice, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises chocolate, light must, charr, fruit cake, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough porter, let down by its appearance more than anything.

Keg at the Rake. It pours murky dirty brown with a tiny white head. The nose is salted caramel, earth, leather, coffee, cocoa, earthy roast and smoke. The taste is dry, earthy roast, coffee, toasty, dirt, peppery spice and charred stuff with a pretty dry, charry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Decent porter, but not a looker.

330. Pours a murky dark ebony with faintly dark amber edges and a gigantic surging tan head that mousses all over the counter if you’re not careful. A big salty, smoky nose, lots of campfire and sea air. Would have guessed this for a smoked rather than a porter. Delicious though. Creamy light body, soft carb. Campfire and a bit of marine brine on the mid palate, along with bittersweet chocolate and some toasty black bread crusts. Quite nice. Long smoky finish.
