4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark brown with a slight red hue. Minimal head. The things that really stand out about this beer are its taste and mouthfeel - this is a really complex one, with notes of chocolate and berries, and it lingers ever so nicely in the mouth. The finish is smooth and addictive.

Thx! to Kraddel for this one. 33 cl. bottle split. BBF 16/03/2013 so quite old going by De Molen dating conventions. Almost ruby very dark brown, beige head. Smell is touch oxidized, wild berries, oxidized, thin roasted grains, light sour, roast, old coffee,… Taste dusty bitter coffee grains, wild berries, sour streak, thin coffee grounds, thin mocha, old chocolate, old hops, herbal, touch sweetness,… Thin, suffering from issues. This batch at the very least if not beer is passable now.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.33 L bottle. Shady mahogny colored body. Tall khaki head. Fresh smelling. Fruity Belgo-yeast up front, followed by a scent of mild chocolatey malts. Taste is more fruity than malty. Like tinned fruits merging with a fair dose of light caramelly, light chocolatey malts. On the light side of medium full. Slick in the mouth. Fine fruity endnotes. Very likeable.

bottle from Bierzerg. Deep brown colour, fluffy beige-brown head. Aroma of coffee and blackberies. Medium-bodied, malty base with chocolate and coffee, plus some fruity sourness reminding me of blackberries, but more in the background.

Eh, not a bad beer but a bit too one-dimensional. I really enjoy coffee inspired beers but the coffee character in this beer overpowers everything else about it. I’d like to get some of the malt flavors shining through as well! Decent beer, ease up on the coffee just a tad and it would really be something special.
