Bottle from the De Molen Shop, shared with Slothez. Deep dark brown pour with a generous creamy tan head. Some vagueish roasted coffee and malts, plus dark chocolate in the nose. Similar taste with some dark fruits evident. A little tartness, then dried out towards the finish. Not bad, if a bit underwhelming. A nod towards the communists perhaps ?

In bottle from Nina’s. Pours a black colour with a fair light tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasty malt, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with a lovely bitter chocolate character. Mild carbonation and a creamy mouth-feel. Very nice. I could drink a lot of this.

75 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a small mocha head that slowly fades leaving very little lacing. Aroma is lots of roasted malts and hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is just like the aroma: roasted malts, chocolate and coffee.

Bottle shared with the neighbor. Nothing that really sets this apart from any other porter...

Bottle. Pours black with an offwhite head. Smells of roasted malt and some hop character. Tastes of a medium sweetness, medium bitterness and lots of roast. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily texture. Finishes dry. A simple but pleasant porter.

Roasted malt, coffee, rye bread. Lactic taste. Plenty of carbonation. Somewhat plain and not one of the best darker De Molens.

Bottle at Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Pours jet black with a massive head. Taste is less dramatic than expected - dry roasted notes, with some dark chocolate. Probably too fizzy, hence lack of smoothness. Taste is not quite big enough. No hops either. Perhaps my first misfire from this excellent brewer. ACTUALLY, by letting it warm a little and shaking out some of the fizz, this immediately got better. More sharpness on finish, more silky tanginess. Some hop, some oily malt. Much better, score moved from 3.4 to 3.6

750 ml bottle. Bottled Sep 2011. Finland. Black colour with small to average tan head. Aroma is blackcurrant, chocolate, roasted malt, cacao and mild hops. Roasted malt, bitter hops, cacao, mild coffee and vanilla in flavour. Soft carbonation. Very good Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, 0.75 l - bottled 16 Sep 2011, at William K Kurvi, 20120505) The beer poured almost black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and molasses. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, ash, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty, ashy and bitter. Nice balanced and tasty porter with low ABV.

Robust white head, black body. Smell chocolate-bitter, a bit toasted bread. The taste is in the beginning sweet-sour, then sweet-malty, roasted-herb. The aftertaste is a bit bitter-roasty. A good one!

Dark reddish brown clear beer, thick biscuit coloured head. Crisp and light palate contrast with the soft head. Malty with a very light touch of smoke. Subtle hop in the dry frothy finish. Okay but just a little dull.
