Bottle courtesy of Colin. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Whiskey aromas. Effervescent and maybe a little over carbonated. Dark roasted malts, whiskey, and coco notes. Good lacing and mouthfeel.

Bottle 33 cl from Bier-Bienne (CH). Oily all black beer, nice dark tan head. Torrefied flavors dominate the hoppy bitterness, black licorice, coffee-mocha, smoky note and bouquet Whisky. The taste is similar, very roasted, mocha and cocoa, peat, woody and Whisky, Irish Coffee, raisin, acidity and warmth of alcohol. Earthy hop, hint of wood and tar. Full beer.

Deep midnight black pour, 3 finger coffee coloured head. Nose is oatmeal, creamy lactose and vanilla. Lovely bourbon notes. very little roasted coffee character. Sweet and chocolatey, no bourbon burn, the 12% is barely noticeable. Wow. great job!

Great beer! Pours a black beer, hazy liquid with a minimal brown tan head. It smelled like chocolate coffee and roasty. It tasted like coffee and chocolate, dark fruits. Light bitter and sweet. Full body, thick sticky and creamy texture. Carbo is a little bit to soft. The finish was astringent bitter and alcoholic.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a big creamy mocca head. Aroma is tremendous, with nice burned malts, liquorice, tobacco and peat, as well as coffee and lots of dark fruits. Normal body, with an oily, sticky texture and soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with burned malts, coffee, leather and tobacco, as well as dark fruits, kandi and molasses. The sweetness lingers on with kandi and dark fruits in the finish. Very good.

Opaque black beer, little dark tan head. Woody malt nose. Palate is smooth and dense. Low carbonation. Rich dark malt with a good dose of coffee. Wet wood - mild. Mild minerals. Subtle dark chocolate and red berry fruits. Good stuff but I didn’t think this was up to Menno’s usual super high standard.

Heavy on the roasted malt with lovely flavours of bitter chocolate, coffee, tobacco, smoke...A nice and not overpowering whisky note. A really great beer.

330 mL bottle from Les Fleurs du Malt in Lyon, France, served in a stem glass at a tasting at Chris’ place. Pours black with a medium, dense tan head that remains and leaves a moderate amount of lace. The nose has big notes of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee along with whisky and oak. The flavour is complex roasted malts and carries the coffee, chocolate and whisky barrel from the nose through to the finish. On the palate, it is full in body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, an excellent Scotch whisky barrel-aged imperial stout. It is complex and harmonious. Delicious. 2012-12-01
