4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TET (1097) - FINLAND - JUL 23, 2012
A black beer with a quite big, beautiful and dark brown head. Aroma is strong and nice, roastiness, black coffee, chocolate, some liquirice and vanilla. A powerful taste, lots of liquirice and roastiness, coffee, enough of bitterness that are herbal, quite lot of sweetness but it’s balanced with other nuancees some whisky barrel in the aftertaste. Full bodied, smooth and nice to drink. Good and balanced IS, also slightly impersonal and the whisky barrel is too hidden; quite sweet, powerfull, liquirice and roasted.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 luttonm (1631) - Belgrade, SERBIA - JUL 11, 2012
Bottle from De Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Almost black, rosy tan finger head. Tart, peaty wood. Crisp, minty herbs, peaty malt. Alc warms and bites, tobacco, leather. Quite sparkly carbonation for such a big beer, surprising. The whisky note is subtle and nice. Tasty, complex beer
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 marcus (5013) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 11, 2012
Bottle at t’Arendsnest. Pours dark brown with a modest tna head and a treacle and alcohol aroma. There is a sour fruity flavor with a dry alcohol finish. Complex, but does not gel very well.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 trevor211 (1187) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 10, 2012
Big thanks to Matt for hauling this one back from Amsterdam. Pours black, with a large medium-tan head. Honey and oak from the scotch are apparent right in the aroma. Coffee, chocolate, and dark roasted malts also apparent. Nice and dry. Flavor follows. Effervescent for how big it is, and on the boozy side. Lots of development in the flavor -- even a slightly tart (lactic? chardonnay?) note in the middle, with more coffee on the back side. A little bit of smoked meat, too. Really nice,

Bottle, thanks to jeffo, 07/05/2012. Pours black, mocha cream colored head, nice surface retention and thick lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate with subtle fruity overtones, licorice, roasted malt, peat and a bit of iodine. Taste of sweet chocolate balanced by roast bitterness, espresso, with smoke, peat, and touch of alcohol heat. Full, smooth body. De Molen doing what they do best.
