islay (406), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 27, 2008 Small sample at OSLO and Guerde’s tasting on Friday, 5-23-08. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy brass that looks like apricot nectar. Dry aroma features a bubblegum scent as well as a potato chip smell (thanks for pointing that out, LawStudent09). Interesting, very sweet, floral, and honeyish taste. Orange juice and lime juice flavors. Medium to heavy pody. Silky in the palate.
Ober (405), Best, Netherlands Oct 7, 2008 A hazy orange colored beer, with a thick foamy white ead. It leaves a beautiful lace on the glass. The aroma is very fruity and hoppy. A lot of malts with several spices. It has a full malt taste, with some alcohol, fruits like orange and peaches. It´s warm. There are spices like coriander and pepper. The aftertaste is long warm and bitter. Another great beer of De Molen. Scauca (260), Lovere, Italy Oct 5, 2008 Hazy orange with a creamy lasting head. Spicy sweet, orangey, yeasty. Ends quite dry and bitter, but far less than other tripels. sayravai (3186), Helsinki, Finland Oct 4, 2008 (Bottled) Hazy (opaque with yeast) orange with a small, mostly fading head, and large yeast clumps in the bottom of bottle. Very fruity aroma with sweetish toffee maltiness and some sahti-like juniper spiciness. Quite bitter for a tripel, with sweetish-fruity, mildly acidic and fusely-vegetably maltiness. Yeast once again smooths it out, yet leaves some hops and fusels intact. Medium to full, warming body with slightly fizzy carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. Basically an enjoyable tripel, that without the fusels would challenge Chimay Tripel. thebeertourist (1896), Oslo, Norway Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy red amber with a great tan, creamy head. Fruity and spicy hop aroma. Flavours is very fruity, but also hints of yeast. Orange zest. Well-balanced. Soft as silk. Original and well-crafted.
