4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home may 21st 2013. Deep and hazy medium brown body, big rocky offwhite head with small bubbles, beautiful. Massive belgian yeast aroma, with nuts, toffee, spices and flowers. Taste of candy sugar, coriander, apricot and olives(!). Sweet body, sweetness lasting through to the aftertaste combined with a grassy bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden though the aftertaste leaves a reminder that this is a strong one. I actually opened the wrong bottle, mistook this for a Donder & Bliksem stored in the same closet but I mixed the names up (take the hint De Molen, I can’t be the only non-dutch beer geek having problems seperating your beer names/labels, they’re all greek&greek to me though I like the naming style when I get the names :p ). But I’m glad I got the wrong one as I’m now enjoying a much better beer than I planned. Go me.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff juni-13: hollandsk tripel med litt bæraroma og -sødme. Honningmed llitt oksydert sherrypreg i bakgrunnen. Minner mye om barleywine, men typebetegnelse er uinteressant akkurat nå, dette er en god ølopplevelse.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pale amber. Frothy head. Hoppy and slightly woody aroma with hints of wild berries. Nice and well-balanced taste, where hops are balanced by sweetness. No alcohol is evident. Medium long aftertaste

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
bottle ( filled till like a millimeter under the cap, impressive !) at home .
1-1,5 year old. as my third daily de molen beer ( cellar cleaning) appearently a tripel . i think this is my first tripel by de molen ...
pours amber, ahalf a glass of foam ( 3 days, three times.. seriously, menno, fix that overcarbonation problem, please??? )
smell is pretty weird! actualy reminds me a bit os nothing less than bommen en granaten ( bordeax barrel aged - a BW of them )
metallic aint the word, but its close... sweet-gone-sour kinda thing , is that a hint of boozyness? hard to explain, yet intresting becouse its nowhere near a ’regular’ tripel !
taste quite followes the scent.. and again, bommen en granaten bordeauw barrel aged seems like the most comparable beer to this . wich is weird, its a difftrent style, and BA . this, should be way worse !
is it a tripel, realy ? if so , its the best one i’ve had so far, i believe !
yet its not hel en verdoemenis level, this is a pretty surprising good beer !

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (330 ml). Thanks to Simon! Golden/amber with with a huge and creamy quickly diminishing off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is of caramel, tropical fruits, alcohol, sweetness notes and yogurt. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with caramel/malt, tropical fruits, alcohol and yogurt again. Slight bitter finish. Medium to heavy body. Low to moderate carbonation. Interesting complexity but way too much sweetness for my liking.
