3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very strong fruity fresh mango smell. Can’t really taste the tripple abbey flavour as it is in Tripel Karmeliet for example. A bit too sweet for me.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2013 2008 bottle courtesy of deanso. Cloudy, amber with a dark tinge and a creamy, lasting, beige, lacy head. Smells of figs, raisins, caramel, malt, toffee, trail mix, nuts and a faint orange zest. Smooth full frothy creamy body. Bittersweet taste of toffee, caramel, roasted and toasted malt, nuts, and trail mix with raisins and prunes. Nice spice. Delicious. Somewhere between a Dubbel and a Tripel.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
cloudy amber colour, minimal off-white head; aroma is fully dominated by yeast - it’s really like a wine cellar; taste is also very yeasty with wine-notes, sweetness, significant alcohol and bitter aftertaste; it is the strangest tripel I have ever tasted...great, but very extreme

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Cafe De La Gare, Den Haag. Poured a cloudy dark chestnut brown with a thick off white head. The aroma is big malt and fruit. The flavour is strong bitter, rich, malty and alcoholic. There is some alcohol liqourice burn on the palate. This beer is more about the alcohol than the hops.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl bottle, bottled 05/07/2012 - Hm, either this bottle was off or this is just one confused concoction of an abbey triple. Nose is cleaning detergent, off-yeastiness, must and rotten fruit, old wild honey - an ominous welcome indeed. Yeast circles on the head shows a very active yeast strain, wonder whether it has gone berserk? Flavour is a very confused tripel ripeness, smooth velvet mouthfeel, but a plethora of off notes: ethanol fumes, metallic bitters, apple peel must like in a very old cidre... Nearly undrinkable, if oddly composed of nothing but hq ingredients...Trying to appreciate De Molen’s full range, but if this is the result of their happy experiments, I’d rather pass...
