4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very dark beer which looks more like porter (or even stout) than IPA.
Nice hops smell, and even more hops flavour in the mouth. Very well balanced bitterness, maltiness and alcohol. Long bitter and hoppy afertaste.
I love that hops flavour and the balance - definitely, one of my favourite beers.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Red wax capped 33cl bottle filled May 8, 2009 and consumed 4 months later. Bottle #98 of 1248. Pours a hazy, dark, reddish-sienna color. A thick and lasting head of clingy tan foam drapes ultra-sticky splatters of lacing that coat most of the glass. The aroma is massively resinous and very piny, with a green "wet" hop feel, grass, and grapefruit notes. The underlying malt base is of toasted toffee, dessert bread, and faint dark fruits. Flavors show the same, with piny, grassy, resinous hops lending substantial bitterness, coming together beautifully with the burnt toffee sweetness. It’s quite tasty. Big and rich on the palate, there’s a certain yeasty dryness up front that transitions to a semi-sticky, ultra-hoppy finish. Damn good imperial red. Sort of a slow sipper, but tasty all the way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at DØE Beerfestival 2009, Valby. Pours an unclear mahogany beer with an orange/beige head. The aroma and flavor is hops and citrus. The palate is bitter and overall a really good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Unclear brown body with a small off white head. Hoppy aroma with lots of caramel, malt and light chocolate notes. Flavour is hops, lots of barley, chocolate and some fruit. Very well balanced. More like a barley wine that a DIPA. Very powerfull taste. Its almost flat carbonated which is pretty sad.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle, brown reddish with small head. De molen usually pleasantly suprises me, but this is not what i hoped for. old-fermented fruit aroma with some souerness. taste is bitter/souer with the ’old-fermented-(rotting)-fruit aftertaste. not my cup of tea

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
Flaske: Fuldstændig uden karbonering. Flad som en pandekage, hvilket virkelig trækker ned på en ellers velduftende øl. Smagen er også fin men simpelthen for tyndt at der ingen karbonering er. Gør den langt mindre drikbar.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours dark burgundy with a big, tan head. Wonderful hop aroma including grapefruit, oranges and even pine notes. Nice, well-balanced caramel and citrus hops with warming alcohol. Soft mouthfeel. Nice and soft. Wraps its punch in velvet, but the kick is definitely there. One of the best of its style?

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2010 2010-03-04, bottle (brewed/bottled Sept/Nov 2008), 1 year old, 7-4-8-5-16=40
Brown color, small head. Aroma of caramel, sweaty hops, light fruity hops, some alcohol. Good body strength, strong caramel flavor, semi-sweet, with strong bitterness; the hop, even if nicely mingled with the caramel, is partially resiny and fruity. Solid.

Cloudy brown color, small head. Very good aroma of American hops, oranges, a bit resiny. Good caramel flavor, fruity and resiny hops. The final is a bit astringent, tannic. Powerful, but a bit confused; yet, very good.

It pours an opaque brown color, completely still. There is some nutty caramel aroma. Good body strength, strong malt flavor, with caramel, well sweet, a bit nutty, and with a respectable final bitterness; quite English style. The final is less powerful than expected, weaker, moderately short. Unfortunately the complete lack of carbonation has a negative impact on this beer. I’m generous just because of my addition to Barley Wines.
