ante (2482), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden Aug 29, 2008 Bottled at Monks Cafe, Stockholm. Pours out in a opaque black colour with an eruptive pale brown foam. Rich spicy aroma of salt and anise with a dense background of dark chocolate and cookies. Full-bodied with notes of salt, tar, licorice and black chocolate with smooth undertones of cookies and almonds. Long bitter finish of tar and black chocolate. BeerBiker (1172), Odense, Denmark Aug 28, 2008 [Sampled at DØE-festival with Helga, Søren and Anne, Århus 2008.] My teeths went to water. Great black beer with brown head. Notes of strong roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, wood, good fat mouthfeel and indeed a complex beer. I want more! omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 28, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Transparently black with dense pale brown head. Aroma of aniseed and ouzo. The surprsingly slender and vital body gives it extreme drinkability for a beer it’s size. The flavours are concentrated Salty chocoalte is first in line. It has also grainy malt, licorice and tar. Underneath there are vague fruity notes, raisin perhaps. So unassaulting that it takes a while to realize just how intense and complex it is. One of the best new imperial stouts I’ve had in a long while! NoiZe (893), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 28, 2008 Dark black colored brew. Chocolate, caramel and coffee in the aroma. Very nice. Good bitterness in the flavor, coffee, chocolate. Very smooth mouthfeel. Some hops. I wonder what aging can do for this brew! Ober (289), Best, Netherlands Aug 27, 2008 An almost black colored beer, with a thick dark beige foamed head. It stays for awhile. It leaves a lace on the glass. An incredible aroma of burnes/roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits and nuts. The taste starts with burned malts, coffee combined with pure chocolate. The are fruits like, prune, date and raisins. Some sweet in the back. As the temperature is rising, there are aromas en tastes of liquorice. This gives a warm feeling. The aftertaste is a little dry roasted. A great beer.
