Bottle sampled at WeeHeavySDs 2000th rating party, with thanks to toncatcher! Pours a deep reddish-brown with a tan ring. Aroma is very burnt and sharp, with chocolate, coffee, malt, and dark fruits. Taste is very sharp and sweet, with lots of burnt toasted malt, chocolate, and bitter hops. Lingering sharp-bitter burnt flavors. Intense and very tasty.

75cl Bottle at new years eve, to leave all Hell and Damnation in 2008, and what a way to start 2009! Pitch black beer with a lasting creamy light brown to beige head. Thick aroma of moccha, chocolate, liquorice, coffee. Very nice. Flavour is sweet coffee, moccha, liquorice, chocolate, a hint of something like glue, with a nice bitter finish. Body is thick, syrupy, very smooth carbonation. Great mouthfeel, highly drinkable. Excellent stuff.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours completely black and opaque with a creamy, cappuchino-like light brown head. Very intense aroma: burned malts, peaches, licorice and cough syrup. Also an intensely full body, plenty of sweet licorice, roasted malt and a light ashy note. Finishes with a light malt bitterness and a warming alcohol. Truly a great Imperial Stout. 231208

On tap @ EBF 2008. Black body with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and liquorices. Flavor is a balanced mix of sweet, dark malt, chocolate, coffee and bitterness with a warming alcoholic finish. Really nice.

On tap at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A black beer with a small tan head. Balanced nose with coffee, chocolate, burnt malt and some licorice. Well, balanced might not be the right word, smooth maybe? The same goes for the flavor, it’s really delicious and elegant, with chocolate and coffee dominating. Some notes of licorice too. Full-bodied with a long, sweet and ‘dark’ finish. A true beauty. (080912)

750 ml bottle shared at WeeHeavySD’s 2000th rate tasting thanks to toncatcher. Pretty dark with a decent head. Roasted malts and some dark chocolate in the aromas. Flavors were similar with a more bitter flavor and a rather hoppy character. Pretty darn good.

750mL bottle, courtesy of toncatcher. Thanks, Dennis! Pours a dense, murky, dark chocolate-brown color; light-tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Loads of dark bitter chocolate, dense roasted and chocolate malts in the aroma; nicely toasty. Lively carbonation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: tons of chewy dark chocoalte, roasted / burnt malts, and oily coffee and chocolate throughout; intense, bitter, chewy chocolate core; solid impy stout. Lengthy finish: bitter coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts.

Bottle form toncatcher shared at my 2000th rating tasting with Kmweaver and his wife, my girlfriend Cyn, dalekliz, fordest, toncatcher, and wetherel. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is sweet and smokey and quite rich. Super big smokey potent nose. Rich sweet malty chocolate taste with big smoked malt.
