Bottle at Monks in Stockholm. The color was pitch black and the foam large. The aroma contained a lot of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt also some earthy tones. The beer barely contained any carbonic acid at all. A lot of roasted coffee and chocolate. Heavy but despite the high alcohol content (11.9%) the beer was pretty easy to drink. Aftertaste had a lot of roasted notes. A nice Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours black with a decent tan head. Aroma is unusual. Almost like funk and some solvent. In a good way. Maybe some coffee. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Some heat. Lots of wood and vanilla, with coffee and chocolate. Very smooth.

Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a chocolate aroma with a hint of something strange, maybe sweaty sox. There is a delicious chocolate flavor with coffee and vanilla. The mouthfeel is somewhat carbonated and there is a dry bitter chocolate finish. Very complex.

33cl, no mention of ABV, new Dutch brew Anno 2008, from Slijterij van Bergen Eindhoven, very complex Stout, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive, top class!

Dark brown with plenty of small floaters in the liquid. A small dark beige head settles rather fast and leaves basically no lacings. Huge roasted aromas - very powerful. It actually turns to burnt every now and then. Roasted malts, heavy roasted coffee, charred wood, spices, chocolate, faint licorice, perhaps some fruity notes. There is also noticeable hints of rather fresh hops. Light alcohol. Very powerful smell, but not very balanced due to the massive roasted character. The taste has some wonderful coffee flavors - espresso, heavy roasted and almost burnt coffee, tannins. Big sweet malty backbone with a distinct roasted character. Rich notes of dark chocolate. Some licorice and dark fruits, but they don’t really manage to balance the deep roasted flavors. Very faint notes of hops. The finish is powerful with a coffee-like roasted bitterness, some alcohol, spices and lingering notes of general roasted flavors. The body is full, but kind of light compared to some other examples of the style. Quite a lot of carbonation as well making the beer seems rather lively. Towards the end, it gets a little smoother. 750 mL bottle #63, September 2008 bottling, shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown-black body, thick, puffy tan head that becomes dense and persistent. Complex nose with sweet bread dough, rich chocolate, tobacco, hints of licorice, and subtle charred notes. Yum. Complex, rich body with sweet chocolate and licorice notes that lead to toast, sweet bread dough, and tobacco. Vinous. The finish yields a nice bitter, ashy smokiness. My only criticism is that the sweetness gets a tad cloying after a few ounces. Still, this is an excellent beer.

750 ml bottle thanks to Solan. Pours opaque black. Very rich and creamy. Lots of booze, alcohol, dark chocolate and coffee in the nose. The flavor is sharp but delicious. This is a great stout.
